I'll admit I still haven't grown any pans yet but I would probably fill the bottom of that tub with some coir and keep it saturated

That is a good point. If this fails to pin I will do the full tub with the corresponding thin sub to have better humidity.

This was MS > agar > rye > straw/manure > casing

What is your casing made of?

I’m far from an expert, but it looks clumpy. Too wet? Not enough verm? Not sure, but it looks a bit off to me. Also, what are the tray sitting on? Even in that tray in tote, it should be on a rack to allow air to circulate and cool your sub, promote evap. Maybe soaked coir or perlite would be good too?

I just spent all day yesterday casing this bag. Picture is coming after coffee.:pipesmoke2:

The casing is peat/verm 50/50 with calcium carbonate for PH.

Yeah it looks lumpy, it was my first time doing a casing tho.

I am going to let it dry to see if that triggers pinning.

I'd use perlite over coir

Does this look too wet or not wet enough? It’s been in here for about 8 hours now. Temps 78-80 fans kick on at 80 and run to 78. Rh is at 99-98.5 at 80f coming down to 97-96.5 at 78f. Fans run about every 10 mins for about 2 mins. They are set to temperature not to time. My fogger is running a slow continuous pace at level 4 of ten. Room temp is 80f.

This casing was made identical to Asuras write up. Except the peat I could not get. It was not a factor reaching 7.8 with the optional hydrated lime and calcium carbonate. Everything measured very precisely, 3 TIMES! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤞

Really hard to see anything in that image.

Side by side shots for comparisons
Judging by differences in shape of cap and gill spacing I'm almost sure these are different species but will leave it up to the experts to decide...

Woah, I love the upskirt shots!

Those are some nice looking fruits zif. I think you're right about the gill spacing but the edges seem different too as the "wild coast" are curving inwards and the "weza" isn't.

I put some pans to LC using Josex's poke method the other day and I'm wondering if it's better A, B or if I should just toss these. Can't seem to find good pan LC pictures but I'm also half a retard on good days, so :shrug:

These were my LME LC's pan cyan and pan cambo. All came out clean

Not super helpful, but it's something.

Hi! I was just want to ask you guys for your honest opinion about my trays.

They colonised nicely, and were cased 6 days ago. So far no pins, it smells clean and I think (if I'm not delusional) that I see the poking myc starting to thicken.

My FC is a plastic tote with holes and I am fanning regularly. I am very aware that my methodology is suboptimal :grin:

Casing looks a little clumpy imo. You've still got time. But my successful attempt pinned by day 7 latest, and asura says that if it doesn't pin by day 8 then it may not happen. But in my mind two weeks was the longest I'd wait.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm going to cook up some LME broth and put my pan cyan BVI to it today.
Just got some FSE prints through the post. 'Pan. Florida' which I'm guessing is pan cyan florida. pan cay hawaii, and another unknown pan cambo.
How many days was that? I'm debating chucking em now because toda is day 5 and there really isn't that much myc but I also haven't been good about shaking them
I don't remember, however, I kept the LCs way longer than I thought was going to be good. The pan-cakes I made were noc'd with an LC that had sat, finished for like a month. In a jar with an unmodded lid.
Got these cute media bottles for this round of LC:
No idea why I pixelated the image. I don't really remember taking it.
Wow, that’s got some vigor!
I noticed this morning that the bag I injected 2 days ago has lots of nice growth. I still have about 100ml. of this LC that is 3 weeks old now. I’m going to run another bag tonight, get it used up. I’m really excited to have all the physical aspect of that process down to muscle memory. There is SO much more a person needs to be mentally aware of.
Tinyshrimp, great way to go about this shit. Jump in.
I’m not ashamed of my failures as long as the lesson is retained.
I fuck up all the time, I plan on fucking up again, soon! I’m excited about it too! :rockon:
I’m not saying you fucked up, it could have pins right now for all I know. :stoned:
I’ve had some take 11 days to pin but that’s at like 65-72f.
You guys that know NecD how’s this top colony look?? Seems decent to me.
jcm, hopefully you can get a decent cluster for clones or something. Thinking it's
going to be such a great trip you won't care what the fruits look like.
I don't get to try the Nec D until next weekend but my cult partner is doing 1g tonight
so I am expecting a solid report tomorrow.
Damn I think this is the first time I've ever had to look on the 2nd page for this thread 🤣
Jar progression from noc to tonight. Growth was very speedy and healthy from 10th to 19th. Jar was shaken on the 19th and after recovering for 3 days it looks less colonized than before 😤😡
Feeling defeated in the pan growing area right now.
This is kinda worrying me too, I've read hamloaf's posts in this thread where he shook jars which do not recover well at all. He claims that this happens because pan colonies DO NOT like to form anastomotic connections with each other and I can already observe that in my agar germination plate where different colonies grow out and when they meet, they avoid connecting with each other, whereas cubes just become one large network.
He said that combating this problem would have one to search for the right colonies on agar which will perform anastomosis with each other. Shaking after these facts seems to be something really risky and the cost of that is slower colonization times.
Then again, JCM has had luck shaking his so.. As halmoaf said it's the "random factor" (his words)
LC's all nocd. Now the waiting game.
OH SHIT!
:waitthatsbad:
Ok everyone. I've just realised that when I weighed my pan cyans there were some in the pot from another grow.
coversall, how much did you pull down dry?
dry came in at ~29g.
Oh shit, I've still got about 12 caps printing. So 29g + whatever they'll dry down to lol. Not much I'm guessing.
This weight is wrong. So I have no idea how much I pulled from the pan-cakes! But less than 29g! I thought that was too good to be true. Regardless I'm still more than happy!!
But in the name of honesty and transparency!!
ya asura i didnt  get any nice clusters really. but i did get 6 average fruits that i took tissue samples from just to be safe incase i didnt get nothin else more than these fat ass mutants on 1 tray and tall skinny small capped red spored fruits on the other tray. that way i at least have something i can attempt to turn into a decent culture with some work so wel see what happens.
as for all the samples i have a lil bacteria on a cpl of them that i gtta work around.  but i have good enuff growth that i can work around and secure clean cultures from.  i took 5 samples from each of the 6 fruits  just to account for knowing some would be lost to bacteria issues.  but in the end il have a good 10 cultures that i can start fruiting out and hopefully get somethin better than what im currently workin with.
and getting the new FC sort of finished up. No more shower stall.
