What is the difference between copelandia and panaeolus? Is it just the spore size, or is there none at all?

Panaeolus is the new designation. Coplandia is deprecated.

If you build it... ... they will come...
Haven't finished the bottom I know I need a tray and I got WiFi timers this time that I can operate from my phone to dial in with ease this time. Last time I had an issue with the filter being on the front pushing the fog to the back so I decided to try the top this time that way the fog drags straight down. The fan is one you would normally use for a hydro tent but it seems strong enough. If not I happen to have a bathroom fan. We shall see.

Hi Folks It has been a while. While I was gone I failed at that Ps. Cyan Natal grow. Not failed but very low results. I got one meager first flush of about 20 fruits and then a second flush of about a dozen fruits. They were odd to judge in terms of maturity and I pretty much failed at printing both flushes, barely got any spores. Maybe two half assed prints after trying to print 15 or so.
I was successful in keeping the fungus gnats at bay until about half way through the second flush. How those little suckers got through my panty hose force field I'll never know.
So I have three varieties spawned at the moment (all MS). Nec D, Wild Coast, and "mystery coast". Mystery coast is a wild pan off the coast of South Africa that a certain generous fellow there sent me. He has managed to fruit them but I am not sure he has given them a name as yet.
Soo... A question for you folks. I have not seen much discussion of spawn ration in here. The emphasis seems to be on ensuring that manure is in the substrate in decent quantities. I have seen some hint that grain might be helpful in Asura's discussion of LC straight to Substrate where he suggests that supplementing the substrate with some grain and then sterilizing it before inoculating with the LC is a good idea.
I've been assuming that spawn is just that a means of distributing inoculate into the hpoo / chopped straw substrate. As such I've only been using a tiny bit. LIKE MAAAAYBE a 1/4 pint or a pint per 17 X 22 inch tray.
All other things being equal could I expect fuller flushes with more gain in the mix? Or is the manure / hpoo the main nutrient base and grain is just a means of spreading spawn around and possibly speeding up the colonization process?
Over in cube land there are plenty of older discussions of spawn ratio and what effect it has on production. People still bring it up now and then but I think many folks think that something like 1 part spawn to 4 parts substrate is a decent ratio. with my pan trays I have been far lower than that.
Thoughts?

I have read jake, jcm, and some others doing 1-4quarts. Jcm was doing 1-2 when he started but I think the majority do the 1-4 ratio. Iโm going to make extra. That way I can eat some shit sandwiches and have some cake too.
Hopefully.

ya psilo i prefer a 1.4 spawn to sub ratio. i have started making my sub at a 50/50 straw and manure mix. i was usin a 60/40 but im getting the exact same results at 50/50. but def go with a 1.4 ratio with spawn๐

I use a third myco quart per shoebox.
I think angam said he doesnโt use any grain at all.
Lol Psilo itโs funny how quick expectations rise. Wasnโt it just a couple months ago you were just trying to get more than five pins???
Mightโve been somebody else. I do the same thing. Once I get one that doesnโt completely fail I must master it the next time

This damn thread made me go ahead and order panaeolus cyanescens again. Last time was an LC traded with another person. Never would grow on agar or spawn.
Is there any specific agar nutrient requirements? Please tell me I don't have to make horse shit agar

Psilo, my method is basically Blue Helix's method. I use 250g of millet or milo and that's for about 7 quarts of substrate. Hardly any grain at all. The 1:4 ratio seems to work well when spawning to bulk, but for direct inoculation with LC that will be way too much.

Thanks. I'll order mea. I have potato starch, flakes, nutritional yeast, cornmeal and oat flake agar media. I just started using the cornmeal. Pink buffalo loves that shit.

Yeah for bulk bags anything over around 25% will stall or not even fruit. 7-19% seems like a good range. It's weird when your coming from cubes at first but then you understand these are dung lovers and they will tell you what they like if you listen.

I probably skip bags for pans and use jars. Some thrive with bags and some don't. I typically try to be green about the hobby. Occasionally bags have to be used tho

Hey there everyone, first time diving into pans for LAGM this year. I skimmed a few pages of this thread and some others but didn't see very many examples of pan myc on agar, just that it should be fast and wispy. I was hoping some of you lovely folks could drop some pics if you have any readily available and let me know what you think of these T1 plates:
Those two are the better looking ones(I think?)
I have two more from another germ plate but they look more tomentose and one molded out, here's one of them:

Probably just gonna toss that one too unless anyone thinks I should keep it
Any input is appreciated
