I got mine yesterday. I’m about to whip up some agar and gettem goin. I’m going to try 20% mix this time. I was using 20% agar and 14% lme.
This might be completely saf but I want to ask. If we put gypsum in our sub and grains as a growth booster. Why not put some in the agar?

I imagine it would make the agar quite cloudy and difficult to see mycelium. But idk, never tried it

These are my Wild Coast T1's. I have another plate with 2 transfers on but the growth doesn't look as good(not that I'm sure this looks great).
I was also feeling brave and chucked 3 wedges from my germ plate into a jar

its just a lil hard to tell from tht pic is all. put something warm on top of the plate for a lil nit n clear the condensation off n try n get a new pic

The one on the bottom right looks just like the wild coast that did not recover in the tray for me. I just thru out a bunch of grain jars that was not recovering at all or slowly. Room for more experiments!

Fussy fuckers ain't they. I'll have to nocc a couple more plates up and get a bit more variety. I always reference the pics in jcm's tek and out of what germed this was the closest although the growth is far more chaotic than his pics it was still whispy. Hey ho, live'n'learn

I'm getting germination in agar.
@JCM, you say you prep your straw as per RR's method, do you hydrate it in dishwater and then add it to a bath with a pH of 10 like RR does?

Food for thought: couldn't it just be the batch of agar?
Unpacked: In my very limited experience with agar work, I have noticed drastic differences in cultures between batches of agar. IE: I have a healthy wispy culture of pans on an agar dish and transfer it to a new dish made from a different batch of agar and the culture for some reason doesn't like that specific batch of agar and goes tomentose. Isn't it still the same healthy genetics, just not proper conditions?

Hopefully some pan Hawaii myc..
Split 5g with my nephew a month or so back. It ended up being quite intense. He threw up a bunch and told me his heart was going to burst. He had an rso syringe in his hand. I thought that rso syringe was hard drugs that he was shooting up (I know he was on some sort of testosterone) and it looked like he had full on tits. Anyway my wife calmed us down a bit and we somehow survived. He says he’s off the T now. So that’s good
