Actually, there's a lot of people who prefer to do it that way. I'm sure you can find a tek or a growlog if you used the search function.

Yeah I've done alot of searching and reading. Since it's my first attempt at Pan's, I'm gonna start with Macmerdin's "Pan-cakes" TEK. I was just wondering if he used a TEK that I could reference as well, or if he is a trail-blazer.

looks to me like he's using the spawn grains to bulk TEK

It's not rocket science, it's an art. Even if leaf held your hand IRL while you were doing the grow, he would still probably do better than you due to his experience. Just have some fun, grab some poo, mix some straw or coir, throw some spawn and just wait for it to do it's thing. There aren't any strict substrate ratio parameters or something, you could do it blindfolded and it would still fruit. Unless you threw all the poo on the floor instead of in the tub that is.

with all those uncolonized grains, I couldn't open air spawn, so pasteurization was out of the question. if u do sterilized substrate, just make sure its slightly drier than pasteurized, cause u won't have as much evaporation (single bag is less surface area than 27qt+ tub). when I squeeze hard, I want maybe a drop or two to come out, if that. if it was for tubs, I'd make it a little more wet.

BL- thanks man, I really appreciate your advice! I will probably go to a 20 qt mini mono since I don't have a greenhouse. I'm weeks away from that though and that's if everything goes right lol. I'm just getting ahead of myself right now. I gotta get some mycobags immediately!

no problem man. u might wanna skip bags for now unless ur pasteurizing in them. its kind of annoying to work with them inside standard size SAB, which u would need to do if it was sterilized.
BUT if u want to use bags to fruit, u can do standard pasteurization in them and inoculate them(dump grain spawn in) in open air>seal/zip tie them and then fruit the bag in a tub when its done colonizing (no GH required). u will probably have to mist though.

I was thinking it might be difficult to work with the bags in the SAB. I have enough trouble with agar as it is But I do already have a bunch of wide mouth quart jars. Could I sterilize the poo in the jars then do a g2p trasfer?

u could. might be hard to shake/distribute. i would rather do standard spawning (pasteurize poo in jars, put in tub open air with colonized grains/mix>fruit a la cubes) or the pasteurize and fruit in bag thing I mentioned above. u can still do open air with that, its just using the bag as the container instead of a tub, so u dump grain into it (in open air) after its cooled down from pasteurization

Ahhhh ok I got it now! So you can treat them just like cubes and spawn to a mini, you only did it in the bag cause for whatever reason the grains didn't fully colonize. Sorry man I've done so much reading here everything is beginning to blend in my head lol!
Thanks again BL, your instruction is invaluable!

yea, u can definitely do pan. cyan/cambo/goliath/etc just like cubes. stone sun has some great write ups and pictures that go into more detail.
cincts, I dunno just yet cause my last 3 attempts doing that basically failed, this was an exception for whatever reason.

Awesome! I will definitely check out stone sun on your recommendation...I saw your previous cinct grows, they seem super hard to dial in, so im gonna practice with the goliaths first while you iron out the cincts lol!!
Do you think sterilizing the substrate as opposed to pasteurized made the difference? Or possibly how long the grains say before being spawned?

it was the grains consolidation time more than the heat treatment IMO.

Now that's what I'm talking about! So maybe cincts just require an ungodly long consolidation time, sort of like cincts are to the Pan world like PE is to the cube world?
