Brilliant thread, some great insights all round!
Just about to take the pan plunge. I grabbed a bit of myc from a T1 germination plate and put it to LC in a panic but everything looks good with it.
Anyways. I’ve got 3 T2 plates that as far as I can tell look half decent. Was just looking to get some more experienced eyes on them to advise where would be best to transfer to another LC I have made up. I may make a few more or I might just throw one of these plates straight to grain depending on what you guys think. Oh and these are Pan Cyan Jamaican as well (Pan Jambo?)
Here’s the plates:

First plate I'd do 11:00, second plate looks fine but in need of more transfers - if I had to pick I'd go with 4:00, third plate I'd probably do 2:00.
Thanks bud, appreciate the insight. Gunna get those to some LC’s. Been following a lot of your grows, impressive shit!

Just further to Adas’ observations. I germinated my Pan Jambo swab just fine and it had been in the fridge for 11 months! Also when I got germination I put that plate in the fridge for a week or so before I read on this thread that it was possibly detrimental. Have since transferred from said germ plate and got good growth.

So, quick question regarding a casing layer, I’ve just found that the lime I have already is dolomite lime and contains 10-12% magnesium which I’ve read is a no no (2% max). Could I just use the peat moss I have with some Verm? I have a soil PH meter so could obviously test this myself but if anyone has experience that can save me fucking about it would be greatly appreciate. Pan Jambos are still colonising so got a few weeks.
If it’s of any relevance, I have some gypsum on hand which is calcium sulphate 55% SO3 28% Ca. Would this be of any use?
Edit: As the time draws nearer I’ve found that the peat moss I have (Had it for like a year, never touched it) typically has a PH of between 4.9-5.5 this would definitely need some lime in my opinion so I guess I’m gunna have to find some suitable lime to bring the PH up?

Might be easier to find the jiffy starter
I’m from the UK mate so from what I can find, jiffy isn’t easy to source over here. I’m using Azusa’s TEK as a base but I have found something on the ‘Zon though, what do you think about This

Hindsight in the house!! Incredibly informative as per usual! I’ll have to digest this info tomorrow though as too many home brews have been ingested! While I’m here though, give this man a fuckin TC tag already. More than deserves it in my eyes

Moopers said: My transfer plates have viable colonies for all three pans I started: PHV, Jambo, Pan cyan. I only have the one fruiting chamber, so I can only get one on grain and growing soon. The others, if I use them to inoculate LC, will they keep longer?
I recall folks here saying don't inoculate using old pan plates. So, is LC a viable option to keep them stable until I can use them?
Could be, I've used an LC that was full col for a month or so and kept at room temp. It performed well!
Are we still under the general consensus that Pan make does okay when stored in the fridge? If so, will it keep like cube myc for many months?

Any advice on this jar? It’ll be a month tomorrow. The agar wedge I dropped in was pretty small. I’ve given it a shake already. Wondering whether to give it another or toss it…

Thanks mate, yeah it looks good, just slow. I use LC 95% of the time as well which might have made me slightly impatient with agar haha. Ok I’ll let it ride.

What do you mean by 3 plates tried? You mean you ate plate pins or something? I’m confused….

Oh right, that’s some shitty luck! I kinda try to go to grain ASAP from spores. Like if it’s clean, send it. Just means you have much more genetic diversity as apposed to isolating further. Maybe give that a go or make 3 or 4 LC’s from different sectors.
Im gunna put some LC to BRF pucks (Josex style) and see if I get any pins popping up. Anyone have any experience with this? Maybe a good way to nail down a fruiting clone early on.
