I've had moderate success with stonesun's method. Never a good yield, though. I have some plates going now and I want to try with shoeboxes in a mono - which I guess would be similar to Mac's.

Me too!!! I have some Hawaiian on plates as we speak. I wish I could get decent yields with pans. Haven't so far, but that's my goal.

Got a question that I am hoping someone can answer...
I have some pans that I put to agar made with 20mg MEA/400ml water and they grew out great.
Did a transfer to plates that were made using 16g MEA and they're hardly doing anything.
Do pans generally like agar with more nutes?
All the cubes I am working on are tearing through the 16g plates like crazy.

That looks amazing. I'm not even going to show my plates after that. Do you have a link to how you grow pans? I'm kinda collecting all the info I can on pan grows.

Here are my current plates. If you have any advice, I defer to you completely
Should I isolate these more?

What’s your recipe? For panaeolus I get the same speed of growth as cubensis when I use about 3g LME to 10g agar instead of 10:10
In this particular case it's just pre-mixed MEA from (quality vendor). 16g/400ml.
I'm going to start playing with some new recipes soon.

Exactly what I am seeing Shroomerymancer and I have a lot of different plates going on.
I really don't mind per se....'cause I suck at growing pans
So the longer I put it off, the more I can educate myself.

Dude, this is exactly why I havn't looked for a better agar recipe. It gives me time to get my game plan worked out for a successful fruiting! I'm about a week away from my first two quarts finishing tho, so I better figure out what the sub is going to be! Any suggestions?
I have only done stonesun's grow...and not close to those results
Honestly, I don't know what I am going to do next, because all of the grows I like are people using GH's and I don't have one set up yet. I might go that route.
Peacefrogs's grow seems pretty interesting.
Sorry, nothing definitive yet.

I use a mortar and pestle to grind up small batches or you can pulverize it in a Ziploc covered with cloth ising a rolling pin or something.
Do you have a write up on how you make it...'cause I think the info like this would be good for us? Just sayin

Peacefrog is totally awesome- he has some nice grows,
I did my first Pan grow in an SGFC cuz I didn't have a greenhouse: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23165420 You just have to keep the temperature up. ~80F.
Yeah, well of course, your grow is one of several that I was thinking about. I guess I just have to put a GH together if I want to do what I need to do. I'm in a part of the country where summer is basically here. No way, I am gonna keep a room at 80F. It is already getting hot AF.

After running shoeboxes with out a mono and experiencing complete failure...mono's are the way to go. Second attempt is going so much better.
Edit: I mean, shoeboxes in a mono.
