I have a question about panaeolus cyanescens. How do you know when it’s ready to harvest being that there is no veil like cubensis. I have a tray going right now and they are about 3 in tall still pretty small.

I have a humidity tent set up with a cool mist humidifier with three tubes attached to each tier and suprisingly at each leve the same amount of humidity comes out and the cool mist alone keeps the humidity at 92-100 all day. When I leave I even turn it down it bit but misty it runs all day. I made skits at each level in tent for some more FAE. Water started to collect a lot at the tray at the bottoms so I dumped some perlite in the bottom and to my surprise it only stabilized the humidity more for me. I have three 6500 bulbs at each level as well. It’s all automated with a timer so all I really have to do is check on it periodically and harvest!! It’s better than fanning and misting for proper suface moister everyday. I still have a couple Monos going as well next to the tent. I went ahead and harvested to pans this morning and found this.

Also here’s a pic of the set up

Amazonian and Texas q4 cube monos, just started to pin and the mini mono is psilocybe gallindoi I’m working on fruiting.. it’s actually been growing stones like crazy and pushing them out of the substrate to the surface bigger than golf balls.. still no fruits. Just had another mono finish consolidating and I’m gonna have to try to figure out how to add it to the mix somehow. Thinking about just getting a big grow tent. Like a 8x4x8 or something. It would be easy to clean, more controlled and I would be able to set it up to where I could just stack my monos.
(Also in that little food container in the ziplock on the floor is some Peruvian torch seeds I’m propagating.)

Hey all, So I have some panaeolus jar cooking. I have trop, hawaiian, just completed a Jamaican grow and then there is the Aussie var. so I know the look of the trop, Hawaiian and panjam. But either this Aussie strain has a totally different look or I got a really bad syringe. Here are the jars
Now at first glance these look totally uncolonized, no growth at all right. Well look closely. In bad lighting it is nearly invisible. Now either this is cobweb or some other kind of mold, or Aussie just has some seriously thin wisp structure. And either way I wondering if someone here might have had this same experience.

Yeah maybe but see I made probably 12 jars with the wbs and I knocked up all at the same time with a couple different syringes and the Aussie is the only one that looks like this all others are healthy. Also I did find one topic on here which someone had had the same look with the same strain from the same vendor and everyone had told him it was mold but I’m sceptical only because why would we both have the same mold unless it’s the vendors syringes.

Yes when I said cooking I meant colonizing just a slang I kinda use. But yes also I hear you about a pan is a pan but I have pan jam, pan tropicalis, pan hawaiian and pan Aussie colonizing right now and I can definently say they all do have different looks that are “generally the same” but still different. But whatever is in my Aussie jars is very different. And I absolutely would have done agar to grain except I don’t have prints I have syringes, this is my first time growing them and I’ve had bad experiences with spore syringe to agar.
Panaeolus tropicalis More thin and wispy

Panaeolus cyan Hawaiian A little thicker but still wispy in nature

Pan Jamaican Much thicker like dense cotton https://files.shroomery.org/files/14-20/991126480-DSC_1014.jpg I didn’t take any pics of my Jamaican colonizing but here.

I just wanted to share something with the class here. So Beginning to experiment with pans I colonized a couple wbs jars of pan jam and when I spawned to bulk I accidentally grabbed the wrong bag of sub I use for cubes. It was just coir/verm/handful of Charlie’s compost manure(poultry)/ couple tablespoons of gypsum/1/2 teaspoon calcium carbonate 50/50 and the results were surprisingly good.
This was a day or two before harvest sadly I didn’t take any pics of that but it wasn’t bad by any means. I just got some hpoo and I’m going to be trying that this time but I thought I’d just share the results of regular substrate with everyone. Also speaking of h poo does anyone have any suggestions for recipes.

Hey jcm just wondering what is your method for leeching you horse poop? Also wondering if you presoak your straw or use any gypsum/calcium carb/diluted coffee

Good to know. Yeah I had experimented with just cups of coffee poured in the water I use to soak grains like in RR’s grain tek. I have had one or two batches that went straight to shit in the beginning but they have been great for quite awhile now but I’ve been leaving out the coffee and I notice little to no difference in colonization times. So you leave out coir and verm completely then. I guess the straw is enough to keep the sub well hydrated.

Horse poo certainly is a difficult commodity to find these days short of trespassing. I have yet to find a supplier. I did get some aged h poo from amazon recently pretty expensive $13.99 sound good till you look at 13.99 shipping cost for 5 lb. but it was already aged and leeched so all I had to do was pasteurize.

So these seem to be doing great I put them into fruiting two days ago now and they’ve almost chewed through the casing. So why does it seem like pan tropicalis and pan jams are the easiest to grow. For me at least. I have been deeply struggling with pan cyan Hawaiian and aussie. I made eye bags and jars with all four and the Jamaicans and tropicalis show vigorous growth(even faster than the cube bags I have growing side by side) while the Aussie and Hawaiian seemed to have slowed down to An almost halt halfway through.

For sure man first ones got your name on it. It’s funny sometimes I want the prints more than the fruits. Panas are funny too because you never know when there gonna pin. At least I don’t remember any knotting with my last tray. With cubes I know I’m on the right track when I see it knotting up. This seems like more of a sit and pray situation. But the trays are all progressing great so far and my greenhouse is tuned up good so we shall see.

I have used sub after pasteurization in a bucket for up to a week with no issue but if your get worried when the time comes around to use it you could always bake it at 160 for 2 hours
Side note... fuck corn never again

So maybe you guys could Help me out I’ve had these tropicalis trays in my gh for about 9 days. They ate the casing in 3-4 days but really haven’t done anything thing. Surface moister is maintained. Fan is run. Everything else in the gh is going fine My pan jam tray is knotting up like crazy but no action from the tropicalis.
Thinking about maybe putting on a casing of something non nutritious.that way it doesn’t continue to grow but has something to maintain it
