TooL Addicts thread 2

Alright well I looked for a recent Tool thread to get in on, since discussing their music is one of my favourite things lol.
However they are all kind of old, so I figured I'd start a new one.
Well as the title says, I'm kind of a Tool addict. I discovered their music shortly after I started smoking weed. I had heard from a friend that they were psychedelic, and that intrigued me.
So I remember being ripped out of my mind and I put on Eulogy. This was literally the first song I heard by them. The intro with the layering of rhythms, followed by that exotic guitar/bass riff, and I knew that there was something to this music. As I listened further and the song gets immediately heavy, and I fell into a trance. The rest is history.
I was sucked into their art, every time I'd get super high, I would put on The Patient, or The Pot, or 46 & 2, and I'd feel the music take me to new levels. This is what causes me to be addicted to their music, the fact that you can be stoned, and then you can lay back and listen to Tool and it's just like magic. One thing I'd love doing is like focusing in on listening to each individual instrument. I would hear the drum patterns and it would make my head spin. I would listen to Maynards voice in astonishment, like how does this guy make his voice seem so vast and then so small? Adam Jones is like George Harrison, he shines so brightly because of how much he completes the bands sound. He doesn't come out up front very often, but when he does it's not about an exhibit of his skills, it's about playing perfect, emotional, powerful notes. The first time I listened to Reflection I almost cried during that one climatic solo.
I could go on and on, which is why I feel somewhat addicted. Like they're kind of all I want to listen to. I've listened to a lot of other music too, Floyd, Zepp, Beatles, Hendrix, Yes, the classics, but for some reason I keep coming back to Tool.
I honestly think their music structure is designed so flawlessly, that it's borderline magic. Especially on acid lol. Like, did they implement these psychedelic music concepts to make their music?
And before people roast me, I'd like it to be known that I'm pretty new to psychedelics so it's not like I've had much of a chance to experience a lot of different music while tripping.
I don't know if I made this in hope that fellow Tool fans would discuss this stuff with me, or maybe I just want to see if other people have this almost crazy obsession and if they moved on.
-------------------- Ride the spiral to the end, You may just go where no one's been. Spiral out, Keep going.

Tool has some of the best music imo. Their music doesn't go stale. I have been listening to them for years and each album still rocks me.
Disappointed they haven't released their new album yet

I'm right there with you man, and Eulogy is probably my favorite song. They're easily my favorite of all modern era bands..and by modern era I mean after the 90's.

Every time I go to the gym I put on Undertow by Tool. That album gets me pumped like nothing else. All their other albums are great but Undertow is legit an album I listen to every single god damn time.

Yeah, that album does set apart from the others.
As overplayed as Sober's been, I still "jam" it like I haven't heard it in years.

Sober is gold but Bottom holds a special place in my heart.
If I let you, you would make me destroy myself In order to survive you, I must first survive myself I can sink no further, and I cannot forgive you There's no choice but to confront you, to engage you, to erase you I've gone to great lenghts to expand my threshold of pain I will use my mistakes against you, there's no other choice I'm shameless now, I'm nameless now, I'm nothing now, I'm no one now But my soul must be iron 'cause my fear is naked I'm naked and fearless And my fear is naked Dead inside, dead inside, dead inside
When those lyrics drop you know I'm busting out a stupid great set

Yeah, Tool are bloody awesome. Aenima is one of my all time favourite albums. On acid it's just bliss - you can really hear the music pulsing and rolling along like a galloping ball of colours.

With ya 110%. Every albums got its own sound but it's always clearly Tool. My favorite band of all time. Its a good thing I'm posting this on my phone or I'd be here waxing philosophical for fucking hours.

Tool is pretty legit. I used to listen to them a bunch back in the 90's. I don't listen to them as much anymore, and am not really familiar with much of their stuff after Aenema

You should really check out Lateralus.
In fact, you absolutely need to do this sooner than later.

Tool was one of the first bands I ever heard. Heard them several times a day on the radio. My grandfather is good friends with the guy who makes Danny Carey's drums so I've gotten really good seats to see them a few times. I've seen them four times total and I'm going to see them on Halloween and Primus is playing too. I think aenima and lateralus are perfect from start to finish
Btw op Eulogy is my favorite song by them

Yeah, I only stressed Lateralus so much because it'd be a more familiar/recognizable Tool for someone that hasn't heard anything from em in a while.
10,000 days is great, don't get me wrong...but I wouldn't recommend it to someone hearing Tool for the first time.

Tool is pretty badass, only thing close to Metal I've really liked. Its heavy and dark but pretty and intricate as well. Haven't listened to it in forever I remember being dosed as fucked one time and coming to tears listening to the album haha its really nice when you want to be in a dark place almost like mourning or something.

Goddamn I love Tool. If I had to pick a favorite band it would be them. I've been listening to them since I was 12. Used to have a major crush on James Maynard Keenan. Mmmhmmm.
Hell, who am i kidding. I still do. Sing to me baby.
Anywho. I don't know. Tool makes me feel anchored to something in a way nothing else does. Strange.

Stinkfist is so unbelievably Dionysian to me, listening to it has become a form of worship.

I love Tool but it's just too god damn heavy on the subject matter sometimes. I mean sexual abuse and stuff. Great band though, I really love their music. Just a little dark to be listening to all the time.
