Mushroom Identification.

Wondering if anyone here has a more trained eye than I? A mate of mine ate these 2 years ago, this was the haul, he ate 4, was extremely sick (mainly nausea and diarrhea). They were consumed before the knowledge of the chemical they contain. Now i know, but seeking confirmation so i can make sure he does not do anything silly.
On another note, does the Agaricon grow in australia, or is it Endemic to another region of the world.
By the way these mushrooms were found in Sydney (wont disclose full location).

Yeah, you are not wrong mate. As i said back then we were not into mushrooms, he just loves them, normal ones and ate them, i took a picture in case anything happened, but the camera was an old ipod. Appreciate the response though.

I would guess they are a Cortinarius species. It's a large genus with several poisonous members and people generally avoid eating any of them.
I don't know what you mean by "Agaricon". "Agaric" refers to any mushroom with gills and "Agaricus" is a genus that includes the common button mushroom sold in stores.

Oh, are you talking about "Laricifomes officinalis", the quinine conk? Sorry, I don't know whether those grow in Australia.

Maybe you're right. I assume you're saying they're Psilocybe cubensis? I've never hunted cubes. I'd still say that the purple coloring on, say, the leftmost one in the foreground of the first pic looks more like a Cort's purple than a Psilocybe's blue bruising. But I could well be wrong.

I was talking about "Laricifomes officinalis" because OP was asking about "Agaricon". Sorry for the confusion.

Thirded, looks like Cortinarius to me also but these pictures are so horrible I wouldn't be totally gobsmacked if there was a cube or two in there also.

IOW, that ain't bruising--it's just purple coloring--and that's why three knowledgeable members said those were corts.

you could still be right but we will likely never know since OP says this occurred 2 years ago.
let's have both camps be right by jointly saying, don't eat unidentified mushrooms, kids! And focus your camera before you take a picture.
