I have been working with WBS for awhile and have discorvered that you can use it in the pf tek. Now I would be putting this in a autoclavable bag (if that makes a difference). And I was wondering how much WBS flour to how much verm to how much water? Thank you. I have looked in the Faq's and could not find it so I guess this is my last option. If im wrong for posting this just tell me this is my first time posting thank you.

:-) thx. Id say use a little less water then u would with reg BRF cuz WBS doesnt soak up as much water, but i dont think itd be a huge dif.

My friend is also very interested in doing this as well, except I think he will be using a medium sized mycobag. Right now, he is just planning on going with the old soak-n-sterilize method. He is planning on soaking the wbs for 12-24hours (probably 24), then straining until there is not a single drip. Then he will load into bags, and PC for 75 mins. Anyone else with wbs think this will work too?

a friend of mine soaked some for 12 some for 24 and some for 36 hours, then used the basic plan your friend has. 36 hour soak gave the best results, but change the water at least once.

i just read recently that you can use wbs, which is mostly millet..but what i read said to use straight hulled millet, in equal parts as the brf....so im assuming the hulled millet has to be ground into a flour as well. so you would use 2 parts verm 1 part water 1 part millet or wbs 1 part brf.
If you go buy a certain recipe then just use half the BRF and use WBS or straight millet for the remaining half.
Hope this helps

If you are using wbs there is no reason to use brf. Soak the wbs for 12+ hrs. rinse well and let drain at least an hour for every lb of wbs. However much water the seed retains is the correct amount for that seed. bag or bottle and pc.
mOrb - if that bag has a lot of wbs pc for 2 hours.

I have been doing regular old WBS in bags for 2 years I dont need to know how to do that. I need to know the formula for substatuting brf with WBS flour ( i guess you would call it that). Is it 1 part WBS flour to 2 parts verm to 1 part water??????? Or what is it ?? Thats what I need to know

Thats basically it shroomy, but like i said id use a little less H20, otherwise ull end up with almost a glue. make sure u mix the verm and WBS flour b4 adding water and you should be fine! Let me know how it goes though

wrong....using brf and hulled millet is a little something i came up with, you use equal amounts of the hulled millet and brf.ie,2 parts verm 1 part water,1 part brf and 1 part hulled millet. this gives you twice the nutrient reserve of a standard brf jar. hulled grains dont need to be ground to a flour only whole grains do if you are using them as a brf substitute. shroomygirl,if using WBS flour, use the same amount of water as you would for BRF. but i would suggest finding some kind of hulled grains for use in pf jars.

wouldnt that make it too dry though hanky? isnt it twice as much grain as said in the PF Tek? or do u soak the WBS first?

i dont use WBS,i use hulled millet, and after playing around with ratios for quite some time i have found that 2 parts verm 1 part water,1 part brf and 1 part hulled millet works best.

This is exactly the opposite of the truth. Ground Millet seed will soak up more water than BRF does.
Alot of people say that you must used hulled Millet, but that simply is not the case I used a regular WBS mixture that contain Millet, Red Millet, and 4 other type of seed. It worked like a charm.
My advice is always going to be: "Read everything, ignore half of it, and try try your damnedest."

the reasons for using hulled millet are,it doesn't need to be presoaked.also the mycelium can consume the hulled millet compleatly,if you take the time to slice open a spent grain casing you will notice all the hulls are still there, only the centers of the grains have been consumed.
