Just because a state legalizes pot * 2
    #22214795 - 09/09/15 10:53 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Does not mean it will stay legal for ever, I imagine if they can make it illegal before, they can make it illegal again. It's all about what the majority wants. Change the majority and its gone *poof*.

Hopefully it will take deep roots like alcohol and people will be outraged if its ever made illegal again. Just look at alcohol tho, ten years of prohibition. Ten long fucking years. That's nothing compared to how long marijuana has been illegal for recreational use in most of the nation, so I guess that's a bad example.

You guys think where legal that it will ever be reversed again? How long until the majority or the scumbags that have the power that want to control ever aspect of our lives take away our freedoms to smoke pot again? You know damn well they can come up with some bullshit to stop you from smoking it(like they did with the Tax stamp thing originally, who knows what the fuck else they can make up in todays world). 25 years? 100 years? What are our children looking at/ will they have to deal with it?

:mad2:

The money it generates would keep it safely legal just like alcohol.

It won't be made illegal again anytime soon. People are way more educated about weed now then 80 years ago.

The prohibition of alcohol only lasted ten years because... well, it was ineffective. The revenue generated from weed will only keep the government's interests vested.

I doubt it will ever be overturned. I think it's a generational thing and that the old people who believe the hype about marijuana are dying off.

I sure hope you guys are right. It would sure be nice if our generation would think of a way to enforce its legalization- make it permanent. Make it to where they could never take it away. Hopefully like said above the money that's involved in it will be keep it locked in. Like alcohol. All it takes is a few generations of brainwashing and boom its gone.

If they start censoring information like the internet (as desired by the NSA) they could rid of opposing views. I don't think they can ever stop books, but who knows what could happen in the future if people become fond of censorship such as on the internet.

At this point you would need to shut down the whole internet to silence people. Government can't stop child porn how are they going to stop free speech? Cat is out of the bag there is no going back now.

Thank God for VPN's and a TOR browser right? Red alarms will start to go off if they make that stuff illegal. Like you said tho I don't think it will ever happen. I could see them making VPN's illegal like other nations due to torrenting but I don't see it happening. It's just a concerning issue to think that marijuana could be made illegal again.

It will never be illegal again.

Why would it be?

No reasons

Yeah, If I remember correctly, the only reason it was made illegal in the first place was because of propaganda proposed by lumber companies because hemp could be used to make paper at a cheaper cost.(Could be off though)

Weed wasn't made illegal because of the safety, it was made illegal because of nonstop fear mongering.

This

I remember reading that a lot of the money in CO from legalized cannabis was going to fund schools, why would they want to fuck that up.

Cannabis is such a wonderful cash crop, there's no way they will ever criminalize it again.

It's true that these States could unlegalize it any day. I think it's about as likely as the US restarting alcohol prohibition.

What's more likely tbh is that the federal government decides to enforce it being illegal no matter what the state has said. Some of the republic candidates wanted to enforce marijuana prohibition last I checked. But I can't remember exactly who.

They do/did want to, but they won't succeed now with such a high level of public support esp with people not trusting the government as easily as they used to. It's almost political suicide now to try to federally enforce this issue in legal states (as it should be).

educated people would see that just because a couple of states made it legal doesnt
mean it is actually legal yet, there's still 48 states to go and then there's the
whole "it's fucking illegal on the federal level which is some serious fucking
charges if they decide to start enforcement in legal states"

so yeah, there is that
