MS Syringe Inoculation vs MS print to agar

Trying to figure out what the difference is, if any, between MS Syringe Inoculation vs MS print to agar.
Some things I'm wondering is:
1. Will potency be about the same/diff? 2. How fruits will look from the diff methods 3. If you do start spores on agar... How many times do you isolate before throwing on substrate/grain? (ideally i just want to transfer 1 or 2 times away... don't really care for a mono culture iso)
Thanks in advance...

1. chances are the same 2. chances are the same all else being equal 3. couple xfers, until clean. i usually even do one more after i know its clean.
if ur doing MS, and u have a 100% verified clean syringe (can be arguably rare), i would say there is no difference btw that and a clean MS agar wedge.
maybe the few xfers on agar have gained u some ground, and limited the genetics, but other than that, i don't know one would be able to tell the difference.
-main goal of agar is clean innoculant. -after that, cloning, and isolating are main goals. -then one could make argument another goal would be to test fruiting performance w/o use of substrate and grains (good pin set on agar will usually translate to good pin set on substrate)
i wouldn't normally bring up third point, but after receiving some cultures from others, and seeing edible cultures on plates, i'd say ability to fruit can be predicted by plates for species like cubes.

Dang, I can see why you have that tag.
So far my favorite method is to get good clean growth on a plate then spray it good / mix up the agar in the petri with a syringe full of clean water, then suck it back into the syringe. I've been told you can then expand that needle into a jar of 3-500mL of water, but so far I like having a higher concentrate and one pasty plate into 2 10cc's works quite well. Cakes colonize in under 2 wks, quarts of rye slightly less.

i know a dude IRL who does that. PP5 dishes, ports on lids, etc. plates colonize>sterile water>suck it up>inoc masters, etc etc etc.
seems worthy of trying. i am personally afraid of syringes. and ports. then add the two together, I'm doubly scared lol.
but to each their own. results speak for themselves, so always do what works best for you. i like cutting wedges, and dropping them. it is slower than liquid inoc, but all around, it is safer IME. but again, my G1 masters will colonize 5-6 days slower than a friends who use LC, or the technique u suggested, same culture (we share plates). comes down to preference based on experience. there is no wrong way. there is only clean spawn
