Okay so, the enviromental team at my job got a huge order of these little guys.

I asked if i could snag a few because i thought they may come in handy
I figured these things could be useful in storing some GLCs. I want to get my hands on a couple more strains and these wouldnt take up near as much room as jars. Also, i only have (1) 10ml syringe right now.
I tried looking the brand name up on them to find out if they would survive autoclave temperatures but couldnt find anything. Just curious if anyone might know, or if anyone uses any viles similar to these?
Here's another pic of one with the lid off.

lids don't really look big enough to work with. maybe its just the pics. you'd have to add a self-healing injection port and a filter.
would be great for slants, though.

Yeah, they are kinda tiny. The lids are only about 1" in diameter. Theres already an injection port on these lids too...thats what caught my attention about them.
Maybe LC isn't the proper term i was thinking of. I wouldn't be trying to have the myc continue to grow but rather keep it suspended in water for later inoculation. Would GE be necessary for that?
My thought was that since i dont know if they'll survive the PC cycle, i'd just boil them with the lids off for a good 30-45 minutes. The lids would be in the boil also...or even steam them in the PC with no pressure with the lids on loose to get them sterile. Then PC a regular qt jar and use that water to extract myc from my grain jar and put into the viles.
Think it might work?

No need for 45mins. I test containers & lids in a bowl of boiling water in a microwave, just boil for a few minutes. It should be evident pretty quickly unless its some very unusual plastic. After a few mins you can take it out and press the plastics with a fork and see if they are overly floppy.
PP5 can go a little bit floppy in boiling water but if its unsuitable it will be more obviously very floppy.
The problem with GLCs is that you are likely to pull up nutrients from the grains along with the myc and it will continue to grow in the water. You only need a small amount of nutrients in a LC for it to grow. In fact Workman of sporeworks recommends just 0.1-0.5% malt extract LCs, vs the commonly used 4% ones.
