degrafting with pereskiopsis attached?

Hey guys hope everyone is doing well. So real quick I was just hoping some members might be able to enlighten me. Every time I degraft from pereskiopsis I try to remove as much rootstock as possible. Awhile ago a made multiple grafts on a single rootstock to save space as mine is very limited. So I have several branches with grafts going and I was wondering if enough pereskiopsis was removed with the scion if it would be able to root? On several branches there is probably 4" of pereskiopsis I could cut attached to the scion.
I've heard people mention about the possibility of the pereskiopsis rotting and becoming a problem to the scion and I was wondering if this is a actual concern? The scions (trichs) aren't big enough to the point were I'd let them grow their own roots.
I'm probably being impatient with the slow growth rate of multiple scions and am just wanting to individually repot them now. So if anyone has any personal experience with this your advice would be greatlyg appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone and all the best

if you leave enough root stock, you can root it. The thing that causes rot is the little bits of dead peres left in the degraft area.

Any recommendations on how much is enough? Like say 2" or more will root nicely?

Never done this, but I might think that 2" would be the minimum. You need to account for whatever you are going to bury to root. I would imagine that 3-4 inches would be more ideal... But then again, I've never done it before
-------------------- One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. 'Which road do I take?' she asked. 'Where do you want to go?' was his response. 'I don't know', Alice answered. 'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

OK cool I feel a little safer trying it then. I always assumed completely burying the remaining rootstock and a little bit of the scion would be best. That way the rootstock would shoot out new roots and the scion could slowly develope roots of its own at the same time.
Just wasn't quite sure if that small of piece would still root with a scion attached. The scions are small so I was worried about them shriveling up and slowing dying while I wait in hopes it'll root.
