Too late for a casing layer? PE mono's have been colonized for 3-4 days now.
    #22211884 - 09/09/15 11:48 AM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Ok, so I have 4 PE monotubs fully colonized. They were probably a day or two away from being fully colonized when I left town on Friday morning. My guess is they finished colonizing sat or sun. I just got home today so they've probably been fully colonoized for around 3 days maybe a little more. I wanted to case them after reading FrankHorrigan's tek on reducing blobs when fruiting PE. Is there a point when its too late to case though. Am I too far along and should I just fruit them? Any information is appreciated.

try it man.
Jiffy mix, pasteurized.  thin layer, flat and even.  Let it consume it 30% then fruit.

You can still case it, I wouldnt case a tub if its been in fruiting for more than a day or 2.

Ok this brings me to my second question. My substrate is 5 quarts of rye/1 brick coir/2 quarts of verm. What should i case it with? I can case with a coir/verm mix right?
