Literally the only people in America who want to do away with Net Neutrality are big cable companies like Comcast and Time Warner. They know they have the market monopolized, and they can make enormous profits off of doing away with Net Neutrality.
Even most right wingers support Net Neutrality. The fact that you're against it is a clear demonstration that your opinions are derived from right-wing propagandist sources, and not your own. If you understood this issue at all, you would not be against Net Neutrality!
On the other hand, maybe you like the fact that all of the news organizations on TV are owned by a small handful of people, who use them to spread lies and propaganda. That is what they want to do to the internet. Maybe you want the internet to be that way.

How can we have meaningful discussion when even the basic facts elude socialists?

I rated you a 0 for spamming the Bernie Sanders thread with memes, which was obviously you trolling. I also reported you for that and several of your own personal attacks on other posters.

Quote:
Internet activists revved up, and FCC chairman Tom Wheeler, who is a former lobbyist for cable and cellular companies, defended the new position. Wheeler said companies would not be allowed to "act in a commercially unreasonable manner to harm the Internet, including favoring the traffic from an affiliated entity."
Network owners wouldn't gouge consumers, he promised.
http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2014/04/the-best-writing-on-net-neutrality/361237/
This is a classic case of revolving door corruption. A cable company lobbyist is running the FCC, and trying to pass legislation on their behalf, with the promise that they won't be bad! LMAO
I didn't realize you took the government for their word on promises.
This is corruption at its finest. We've always had Net Neutrality, and you haven't proven otherwise. Net Neutrality allows everyone on the internet equal usage of bandwidth. If you get rid of Net Neutrality, cable companies can extort companies like Netflix, and small internet startups for large sums of money just to do business online.
The 'invisible hand' doesn't work in this scenario, because the internet has become a relatively inflexible demand curve, and it is completely and utterly duopolized. Time Warner and Comcast have been trying to merge for years, but anti-trust laws are preventing them from becoming a one company monopoly of the market. They do however, allow eachother their own territories, and do not compete with one another.
When you post a link, you should quote the line that you believe supports your argument, because I don't see anything in here that does.
Here is where it says that the internet has always had Net Neutrality:
Quote:
This idea of net neutrality—this cherished idea, even, among Internet entrepreneurs and activists—has a long history, roughly as long as the commercial world wide web. It is, Harvard law professor Lawrence Lessig has argued, what makes the Internet special.
He used to call the principle e2e, for end to end: "e2e. Not b2b, or b2c, or c2b, or b2g, or g2b, but e2e. End to end. The core of the Internet, the core value that defined its power, the core truth that made innovation around it possible, is this e2e," Lessig said in a 1999 talk. "The fact – a fact – that the network could not discriminate in the way that AT&T could."
Comcast couldn't privilege its own content over Netflix's or PBS' or Disney's or your blog's. He explained: "The network was stupid; it processed packets blindly," he said. "It could no more decide what packets were 'competitors' than the post office can determine which letters criticize it."
This was not just a nice thing, it was the very nature of the Internet. Without it, the Internet will become, as Tim Wu put it, "just like everything else in American society: unequal in a way that deeply threatens our long-term prosperity."

Your own link says "the IDEA of Net Neutrality has been around" - The Internet didn't have these new rules until recently, kiddo.
Net neutrality started on Friday. A federal judge on Thursday rejected cable and phone companies' attempts to stop net neutrality in its tracks. That means the FCC's plan for new Internet rules go into effect as planned. Here's what that means for you: What changed Friday? The FCC will be able to assert extra authority over the Internet to establish net neutrality. http://money.cnn.com/2015/06/12/technology/net-neutrality/
LOL. Tell the sheeple that the sky is falling and they will vote for anything.
