The Trump Phenomenon
    #22211271 - 09/09/15 08:56 AM (8 years, 4 months ago)

The Donald, The Trump, the "is this my real hair, or what? Feel that sucker!" phenomenon is a reality (show). Do you think that his poll rates indicate a certain deviation from the GOP original values?

How do you see his ratings in terms of its significance toward GOP potential voters? Is this a sign of demise or simple revolt? Is this a sign of really "just being tired with politics as usual" (a magical thinking toward the harsh reality that business as usual is what will happen and always has)?

No. People STILL think the man was a joke. And, in fact, he was.

Why careful Stone? That you don't know your feet from your head in a debate is clear. What if I defend him, which I obviously do, and am not alone (even reasonable reps know that). Are you scared that I can threaten your failed train of thought? Don't be. Be proud of your opinions

I am not flaming for nothing. When I mentioned sheer belief you said "LOL, look who's accusing of sheer belief". It was not a personal attack, but, in your opinion, this was a lame argument on my part.

Well, when you argue that: Trump is honest. Trump is hands down better than Clinton, because he can fix Washington. When you say "typical leftist crap" (paraphrased), you are causing me to state that you are clearly not making sense.

How can there be personal attacks if I don't know you? If I didn't think you were intelligent I wouldn't be debating this with you.

In any case, I believe I have plenty to speak about, by experience and studies, and I am just as prone not to know my head from my feet when I make an argument.

It's part of this circus, Stone. Enjoy

Not according to the polls...

Yeah, the dates are important. Notice that when dems lose, it is not Trump who plays the candidate most of the time? This week's and last week's polls (as well as the Quinnipiac poll). Can't argue with data, unless you have the means to contest it.

No bias. Polls are in too soon, but there is one fact that these polls do show and that you seem to be so resistent to admitting it: Clinton is not being Trumped by the Donald. Hell, BIDEN is not being Trumped by the Donald

Quote:

I simply went to the site and copied the only stats I saw that included trump and the bitch, biden or sanders. I did not cherry pick. The only poll that counts is the official one on election day. You can't deny trump has surged constantly so far and some polls put him ahead of everyone else. Cry your eyes out but that's the way it is.

Really? How come you only have one source of polls and I presented: Quinnipiac, CNN/OR and PPP? Including the ones showing Republican winning (excluding single-party primaries)?

You are basically accusing me of what you are doing... It may work for you, but it doesn't seem to work very well in a debate, as you say, that only "points out logical reasoning behind opinions."

In any case, realclearpolitics.com shows all polls. I follow them weekly and read as much as I can compiled in the site. I know Clinton is losing popularity and Trump's popularity plateaued and, albeit in the national polls Trump might be gaining ground, he has a lot more to go.

Just as Sanders can gain ground if Biden does.

Show me evidence that, in these past 2 weeks, he gained more points as a GOP candidate in his primaries. I never said he is not getting anywhere, otherwise what would be the point of this post? About him gaining on Hillary faster than Sanders, that is at least a far-fetched view, since Sanders does not have a millionth part of the coverage Hillary and Donald have.

I think (think) that Clinton can still beat Trump, but it would be one of the most bizarre presidential elections in modern history.

However, it is interesting that Trump may damage his party if not elected... Or is that not a possibility?

This is too much tea party talk for a website dedicated to all things tea partiers hate, but OK.

Please refrain from telling me what I should or should not think for being a Jew. I happen to consider Obama an excellent president in foreign relations, including how he is handling Israel and, on the other hand, Iran. My opinions would not be dictated AGAIN by what someone from another ethnic group tells me I should and should not think.

Be slightly reasonable: Leave Hitler out of this context. Comparing Hillary or Trump or Bush to Hitler is sheer ignorance of who Hitler was. And never tell anyone from any ethnic group what opinions they SHOULD have.

The ss bitch

It is flaming and you repeat SS. Call her a bitch if your macho ego so insists, but you could just as well call her:

A liar
A power politician
A cynical
Someone who does not care for the interests of the people
A terrible politician
etc.

About Sanders, I am not stating that for you, but yes, if I can do anything about it, I will get him on the ballot and leave Hillary to sob with her fake husband.

OK, I won't tell you what you or anyone else should think.  I'll tell you what I think as a human being: Obama is a self-serving, jew-hating imposter and a disgusting blot on this country.  I'm ashamed of the sorry son of a bitch being associated with the US..

I believe your statements, in addition to being completely emotional and not seemingly rational, are outrageously wrong, and in the field of foreign policy I am sure I can stand the ground. Perhaps bring some evidence to the table as to his foreign policy explosion in the ME, when Bush was the one who pushed the dynamite handle, and for a long, long, time.

I will not pull out credentials, but I am confident that this is no argument at all. Your attacks are ad hominem and they do not provide any evidences for the disaster you mention.

No, but the comparison is offensive and in bad taste. You have the freedom to express your words, but those words are ignorant as far as I'm concerned. About tone, your constant repetition of generic and offensive statements speaks for itself as to what the Grand Old Party and coservatives have become.

Quote:

You could say I'm flaming billary but so what? She is a public figure and we can say anything we want about public figures ranging from low ones like obumble and hill to the pope if we wish, or even talk shit about jesus or god. Its all allowed on the shroomery. I reserve the right to say what I like about the bitch. You can too.

I agree with everything you state above. I just said the hitlerian analogy is offensive to many Jews, but who cares, you have as much freedom to say even that you hate any people as the people have to say about you.

Quote:

>It is flaming and you repeat SS.

Does that mean you thought ss meant Schutzstaffel, the Nazi unit? I'm grasping at straws to follow your lack of logic to see what you might be saying. So any reference to Nazis, hitler, or Germany is forbidden under the speech code that you wish to impose on us?

Answered above. Stop fear-mongering. There is no attempt to censor what you say, I just pointed out it is in bad taste, but that is okay as far as freedom of speech goes.

Quote:

I reject that. BTW, ss indicates a ship in this case, not Nazis like you thought.

Okay, you got me there. I mistook the abbreviation.

2009 June - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is declared to have won a resounding victory in the 12 June presidential election. The rival candidates challenge the result, alleging vote-rigging. Their supporters take to the streets, and at least 30 people are killed and more than 1,000 arrested in the wave of protests that follow.

The Iranian authorities claim foreign interference is stoking the unrest, and single out Britain for criticism.

2009 July - President Ahmadinejad dismisses his most senior vice-president, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie, under pressure to do so by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

2009 August - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sworn in for second term as president, presents cabinet - the first since the founding of the Islamic Republic in 1979 to include women.

A number of senior opposition figures are accused of conspiring with foreign powers to organise unrest and are put on trial.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei says there is no proof that opposition leaders blamed for the post-election unrest were agents of foreign powers.
Missile tests

2009 September - Iran admits that it is building a uranium enrichment plant near Qom, but insists it is for peaceful purposes.

Iranian physics professor Masoud Ali-Mohammadi is killed in a bomb attack in Tehran. No group claims responsibility. The government accuses the US and Israel of his death, while Iranian opposition groups say Mr Mohammadi supported one of their candidates in last year's presidential election.

2010 February - Iran says it is ready to send enriched uranium abroad for further enrichment under a deal agreed with the West. The US calls on Tehran to match its words with actions.

Opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi says the opposition will continue its peaceful struggle against the government.

2010 May - Iran reaches a deal to send uranium abroad for enrichment after mediation talks with Turkey and Brazil; Western states respond with scepticism, saying the agreement will not stop Iran from continuing to enrich uranium.
More sanctions

2010 June - UN Security Council imposes fourth round of sanctions against Iran over its nuclear programme, including tighter financial curbs and an expanded arms embargo.

Iran has responded with defiance to ever tighter sanctions imposed by the UN and the West.

UN ratified four rounds of sanctions between 2006 and 2010.
EU has imposed trade, travel and oil export bans.
US, UK and Canada have imposed sanctions on trade and financial institutions.

Q&A: Iran sanctions

2011 November - A report by the UN nuclear watchdog, the IAEA says Iran is carrying out research that can only be used to develop a nuclear bomb trigger. Iran rejects the findings as politically motivated.

2011 November/December - Protesters attack the British embassy in Tehran after London imposes tighter economic sanctions. Britain evacuates its diplomatic staff and expels all Iranian diplomats, but ties are not severed.

2012 January - US imposes sanctions on Iran's central bank, the main clearing-house for its oil export profits. Iranian threatens to block the transport of oil through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran begins enriching uranium at its undergound Fordo plant, in what the US terms a "further escalation" in the nuclear row. The European Union imposes an oil embargo on Iran over its nuclear programme.

2012 February - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors leave Iran after being denied access to the Parchin site, south of Tehran.

2012 March-May - Supporters of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei beat those of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in parliamentary polls boycotted by pro-reform groups.

2012 May - UN nuclear inspectors find traces of uranium enriched at 27% at Iran's Fordo nuclear site, a day after Iran and world powers hold inconclusive talks on Iran's nuclear programme in Baghdad.

2012 June - US exempts seven major customers - India, South Korea, Malaysia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Turkey - from economic sanctions in return for their cutting imports of Iranian oil.
EU boycotts Iranian oil

2012 July - European Union boycott of Iranian oil exports comes into effect.

2012 September - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) quarterly report says Iran doubles production capacity at Fordo nuclear site and "significantly hampered" IAEA ability to inspect Parchin military site.

Canada breaks off diplomatic relations over Iran's nuclear programme and support for the Assad government in Syria.

2012 October - Iran's rial currency falls to a new record low against the US dollar, having lost about losing 80% of its value since 2011 because of international sanctions. Riot police attack about 100 currency traders outside the Central Bank.

EU countries announce further sanctions against Iran over its nuclear programme, focusing on banks, trade and crucial gas imports.

2012 November - Leaked IAEA report says Iran is ready to double output at the Fordo underground uranium enrichment facility.

2013 January - Iran tells IAEA it plans to upgrade uranium enrichment centrifuges at its Natanz plant, allowing it to refine uranium at a faster rate.

Iran arrests 11 journalists accused of co-operating with foreign Persian-language media organisations as part of a clampdown against the BBC and Voice of America in particular.

2013 April - Iran says it has begun operations at two uranium mines and a uranium ore-processing plant, furthering its capacity to produce nuclear material.

Iraq crisis

2014 June - President Rouhani says Iran is ready to assist the Iraqi government in its battle against extremist Sunni insurgents, amid reports that Iranian Revolutionary Guards are in Iraq providing military training and advice.

The UK says it plans to re-open the British embassy in Tehran. Full diplomatic relations with Iran were suspended after attacks on the embassy in 2011.

2014 November - Russia agrees to build up to eight nuclear reactors in Iran, in move that might ease Iranian demands to have own uranium enrichment.

Vienna negotiations on Iran's nuclear programme fail to finalise preliminary deal signed in Geneva in November 2013. The two sides express confidence that remaining sticking points can be resolved, and agree a seven-month extension to the talks.
Nuclear deal

2015 July - After years of negotiations, world powers reach deal with Iran on limiting Iranian nuclear activity in return for lifting of international economic sanctions. The deal reportedly gives UN nuclear inspectors extensive but not automatic access to Iranian sites.

Not exactly news. It would be the Hezbollah, the Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood. So... once again, a very skewed view.

In regards to the "Bush previewing, etc.", he should know since he created the situation in the first place.

Would you rather leave more troops there and see them die? Do you know that Obama's administration stepped up its drone program like there is no tomorrow and that ISIS is much weaker now than it was when it arose?

Yeah... Bing versus BBC... I stay with BBC.

By the way, Turkey is not quite the ME because there is not quite a ME. That is the only reason. Otherwise, how are things exactly worse today due to Obama in Turkey, for example? I know Israel is worse because of its stupid Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Trump wants Palin in his cabinet. I'm sure he'll line up some real allstars for us ;-)

Btw, Reagan broke America. Let's not forget what a disaster that turned out to be Stoney. Please don't hail Reagan on a drug website of all places!

In Latin America this is called a duocracy, when there are only two parties with full monopoly over the political game. However, when you look at Brazil's history of infinite parties, you see they stop meaning anything as well.

It is true that the right and mature attitude would be to vote in a person, and not in a party. But parties have interests and constituents. Just as Trump will NOT do most of the stuff he says he can (he just can't), no one tied to any of those parties would run against the majority interest within the party's sphere of influence.

If we are tired of the game, we should not stop playing it. We should debate how to change the rules and apply the debate to our real political attitudes.

I feel the same way. For instance, when talking about Palestine and Israel, my Israeli friends hate my guts, but so do the pro-Palestinian (I have only one Palestinian friend, really, and he is an exception, and happy not to be there).

DUOCRACY dude, thank you! lol

I don't identify as a Democrat. I espouse left-wing philosophy, generally. There are a few things that I don't agree with 'liberals' on also.

However, I don't find the middle to be the 'high ground', though I see so many centrists proclaim that it is, with the same pretentiousness that a hard right conservative proclaims they hold the high ground. Regardless of which superiority complex afflicts you, it doesn't make you special. Its good to have values that you have developed of your own accord, instead of towing someone else's line. That doesn't denigrate the integrity or validity of other political and philosophical persuasions that many have arrived at via the same process.

As far as income equalling cock size, I fully agree with you, it is a strange measure. Donald Trump seems to start every speech with a rant about how rich he is. It is disgusting. If Elon Musk did it, I would find it a more legitimate talking point, but still repulsive.

:bow2:

------------

Update: Yesterday I went to eat with some friends of mine, and 70% were Trump fans. One of them said he knew Trump would "kill ISIS" (did he think ISIS is the name of a lone avenging woman?) and "build that wall and make them Mexicans pay for it."

The staunchest supporters said the following statements, broadly paraphrased:

"That Obama Monkey"

"Trump has balls"

"All illegal aliens are either criminals or taking jobs away from Americans (pay attention to the "all" part)"

"The children benefited by the Dream Act will ALL go back to their countries of origin (which is absurd, because I know the root of the movement and these guys are not leaving America any time soon)"

"George Bush was the best president we have ever had"

And all of those amazing political arguments that make your jaw drop to the floor and wish to die on the spot (the jaw).

I think this is a clear symptom, albeit I cannot generalize their opinions and apply them to others' opinions. But it is the gist I have gotten so far.

hahah That would be hillarious (and I mean it, hillarious)!

I cannot believe what I hear about The Donald, but I suspect that, if he does get elected (and I agree that Democrats should stay in leadership, but not because of a candidate that I hate having to consider: It is, once again, due to the party's constituency), his term(s) won't be as bad as Bush's... Still, he plays the "monkey says, you monkeys cheer" game all the time and, no matter how stupid his comments, a lot of people are tuned in due to their disbelief in the democratic system.

Why, disdain for "illegal" immigrants is ok? So, once they become legal, what happens to the disdain? Allocated? Just admit: Yes, you are right, I have disdain for immigrants (which, in this scenario, can only be illegal).
