They're benzos and no other meds work. We've done went through practically everything on the market. He didn't even want me on the benzos to begin with but it was pretty much the last thing.

Ahh, no those certainly don't mix well with alcohol. Hope you aren't viewing that as a life-long solution...
I know the insomnia bit man. My entire family got it right after puberty. I just used to stay up a LOT when I was younger and that irregularity became the norm when I got older.
I honestly think the alcohol isn't helping your insomnia. I know that's not why you posted, but binging on alcohol has some pretty broad and extreme consequences on your body. If you get black-out drunk to get to sleep, you're really messing up your sleep habits. My mother is a STRONG alcoholic with her insomnia and she only gets about 2-3 hours a night... Every night... I hope I never get there in both regards. Rough life.
Do you have plans in the future to reduce your intake?
Kidney stones CAN come from dehydration, which tends to afflict alcoholics a LOT, because of how much diuretic (alcohol) is on your intake... Again, if you aren't having back/abdomen pains and it's only once or twice a month, it's probably not stones (or they're mild now, but will worsen if you don't change your habits). Either way, it's not mainstream and we probably don't know. There's a reason doctors are paid so much. They went through a LOT of school.
It could be some rare form of cancer and the longer you wait, the more likely it is they'll have to amputate your penis.
Well, sleep well, man!

Already did. Used to drink a lot more than I do now. I tried to quit entirely, but wasn't strong enough and went back to it. Was down to just a few beers a night before I tried to quit. Now I'm back up to 8 or so.

You gotta find an ideal (religion, work, love, kids, etc.) to pull you out. SOMEthing to occupy your time. For example, when people first go to prison, they don't care about their lack of cigaretts, booze, etc., because they don't have time to think about it. Ask anyone with an addiction who's been there. Be glad you aren't on opioids!
For me, I quit a 10 year weed habit by focusing on my work. I didn't quit cold turkey, because there were withdrawals and they were too extreme, but I lowered my intake a little at a time and pulled through in about a month. Weed's a LOT more benign than alcohol though (everything has it's cost though, trust me)
Idk, man, whatever you choose, we're here for you and want you to overcome what ails ya. Post back with any changes or if you discover what the pain ended up being.

It may well be prostatitis. Look it up.
