Who listens to him? I just found out about him and Mahogony Rush, pretty interesting group.
I guess he was likened to Hendrix a lot, I am actually listening to a killer All Along The Watchtower cover right now. One of the best covers I have heard too.
It sounds a lot like hendrix honestly, I guess he is also considered one of the most underrated guitarists of the 70's.
This version is fairly different then the one I am listening too but it still does the job. Plus you get to watch him shred.

Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

The song is solid and he knows how to shred like a champ but his vocals are very lacking. Probably one of the reasons why I don't know who he is / was.
Hendrix didn't appeal to me vocally at first but it grew on me

I don't know man the version of that song I was listening too had solid vocals and that one was decent I thought
Hendrix is a pretty great vocalist too, they both have some nice soul.
Try this song out:
His vocals certainly aren't the best but they are not bad either. I dig his wide range and experimental stye of singing, it suits his almost jazzy jammin.

The next one Door To Illusion may have been my favorite yet, though the song Woman just started and has some great guitar so far. The singing lacking though.
The guitar is making up for it though

Did he ever do any collaboration recordings or albums? I'm wondering if he ever performed with a band

Mahogany Rush is the band he was in, he probably played with other people too though I am sure.
I just read a story about Ted Nugent trying to out show him onstage like a total dick and getting one upped it sounded pretty funny.

I saw Frank Marino play the Star Spangled Banner at the Bicentennial 4th of July 1976 at the Rockford (Illinois) Speedway. I knew that Foghat Headlined the show. I had to look up the rest of the bill. The internet lists 2 completely different concerts at the Rockford Speedway that day.
There are numerous entries for a show with Foghat, Heart, Blue Oyster Cult, Steppenwolf and Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. I know this is wrong. I saw Heart twice and they were outdoors, but it was at Alpine Valley Wisconsin and the Michigan Jam. The only time I saw Blue Oyster Cult outdoors was at Indiana University on the old football field with Aerosmith, and I have never seen Steppenwolf.
There is one internet entry for the correct concert billing of the Bicentennial 4th of July 1976 show. I can't remember if Frank Marino or Rick Derringer played first, but then Ted Nugent played and Foghat was the only one who played after dark.
Frank Marino was a very skilled guitarist but Mahogany Rush never got too big. Some of my friends had some of their albums but I didn't like them too much. His real claim to fame was doing Hendrix songs live. I saw him twice and the other time was also an out door multiband show. He did a great version of Red House and of course the Star Spangled Banner went over big on 4th of July 1976.
There was a crazy rumor going around about Frank Marino, and I don't know if it was started by him or someone else. It was said that he was in the hospital in a coma, and when he woke up he had mad skills at guitar. Sounds like B.S.

Thanks for sharing, I bet he ripps it up live!
I was listening to some llive songs off an album and they were killer.
That is a pretty random rumour. Would be a weird way to get good at guitar
I can understand why they didn't get popular though they deserved too. Frank writes some pretty great songs with some good messages and kills it on guitar.
