As cardboard is made form wood pulp, and unlike paper is normally not bleached, any wood saprophyte should be able to colonize cardboard with ease. As far as un sterilized goes... I'd imagine that all depends on the condition of the cardboard. Anymore, I don't consider un sterilized mediums even worth joking about, let lone using.
I don't know what kind of yields you could expect from an all cardboard grow though. Very low would be a pretty safe bet. Honestly, I would suggest to someone that they not consider growing cyans unless that had the capabilities to produce spawn on alder or cottonwood. Of course, even if they did I would still suggest that they not consider growing cyans (in America) as they are illegal. : )
