Expanding, starting patches

Hey all, I've been picking for a few years now and I'm thinking it's time I start a project of my own...I just have a few questions so I know I'm doing this right.
First of all, I want to add some wood chips / substrate to my current Cyanescen patches so they can continue to fruit. I also want to make spore solution from my finds for this year and try to start some new patches, as well as expanding the ones I have. So, I just have a few questions....
1. What kind of wood chips should I get? I know cyans like alder but I feel like a mix would be best.
2. What time of year should I plant the chips? I'm thinking spring-summer, but I want to know for sure.
3. What is the best way to make spore solution for cyans? I've read that i can just put the mushrooms in a bunch of water and mix them up...would that do the trick?
Any help is appreciated. Been picking up tons of these things the past few years I feel like its time to give back. Cheers all and happy picking!

-------------------- I give you the choice of 2 pills.
With each containing one of the following: Cyanide... Psilocin... Would you take the risk? Didn't think so. This is why Positive Identification prior to consumption is important.

Yea there are some good threads that deal with this here. By here's my 2cents as I got a pot going on my apartment deck! 1- late winter early spring I found and used a freshly broken maple branch. chipped it up after d barking. Dried it out some as I collected more. When I added the mycelium I had been growing over the winter from fall 2014 stembutts I had on cardboard.... it took the wood over! So they like Maple....& other leafy trees I added that to a mixture of chips I have no idea what they are Its a mix for balance. You can go on Craigslist and find free woodchips in ur area at times.. b on the lookout. So that said it's been growing in a pot all summer I keep it moist and covered at times I add dead grass and chaff like that for the casing... time will tell.. but I see mycelium ALL over even creeping out the bottom. 2. As for spores I say take prints on tin foil or glass so it's easy to scrape off into a bottle or squirter and spread em in the fall like nature intends. I did a few spots last fall it was my first time Johnny Sporeseeeding.

I would give it a try chop it up and spread it on some woodchips. I'd start a bed in my backyard.. Try and keep it moist all summer/ covered with something to retain moisture or place where sprinklers are on during those months. Keep it out of direct sunlight. Ya never know. Do some more research this site is a wealth info.. I want to get a set up so I can germinate on agar then Have the mycelium to spread.
oh man a few weeks ago I poured a bunch of ovoid spores on a pile of chips that came from a tree that was chopped and the stump grinded. I think it was maple I went past the next day and someone removed the pile and left a flat area for the owner to plant whatever.. so whomever has those chips.... Oh My
