I'd rather spend a little more though and get going faster. it's my understanding that when you graft pups they multiply. Just keep grafting. And have one pereskiopsis that you just keep making cuttings out of. Eventually you'll have more peyote than you can handle.

You can buy peyote on ebay as well, starting them from seed is worth it but many places overcharge on the seeds.
For example 10 seeds might be at least 5-10$ on ebay, instead I got 3 small buttons for 22$~ with shipping.
Other places sell the seeds cheaper though, my favorite cacti seller I have found sells 10 loph seeds for like 3-4$Quote:

Buy a cluster off ebay then, I got mine for 40~ and it is around the size of a baseball and has tons of pups. So I can graft plenty to pere.

Man why don't more people grow peyote. I've never done it before but it sounds like a kickass high. Some ppl say it feels like mdma, and that's awesome! I'd rather not be doing chemicals. I think a cluster is the way to go.

A lot of people on here do, laws is one reason why many don't.
Even places where it is "legal" it is more of a legal gray area a lot of the time. I have heard tons of people grow them en mass in Europe though.
One thing to consider is over time you get attached to your plants and the sentimental value out ways the drug value.
Of course if you grow enough you will end up with plenty for both, cacti are slow growers though.
Grafting can really speed things up bit even then it takes a fair amount of effort to grow just one "dose" of mescaline.
Cuttings are the way to go if you want to grow for entheogenic purposes. I would recommend a bridgesii and Peruvian torch cutting.
You can clone them very easy and the Bridge should be pretty consistent potency wise.

Whats the point of cloning them though? Why not just grow one big one? Does 2 cacti the same size grow faster than one?

Well at a certain point you can turn one plant into two and have the first continue growing at a steady rate.
You also can graft tips, I just degrafted a cutting from a member on here and re grafted teh tip. If it takes I will have teh grafted tip and a decent sized cutting from what was one cutting months earlier. Also some plants will focus on one column for awhile, cutting it can induce pupping and more than one column may form to replace it. Of course they can pup on top of having columns already, but removing the older growth will focus energy into the newer stuff.
Say you have a favorite plant, or a known potent variety, instead of growing one big plant or eating some you can just clone it.
Then eventually you will have plenty to sell trade or give away and do whatever with.
That is my logic at least.

Yeah you can go either way. Takes a while to multiply out pereskiopsis to big numbers from a single cutting too though.

Start with 5-10, room em and graft to half and clone the rest. Thank me later.
That is how I started and I have at least 25-50 pere cuttings growing. 3-5 of which either are really big or have 2-3+ stocks growing on them.
It took me awhile of cloning but soon I will have enough to graft a ton, I have already attempted a ton but many fail and then I let the plants recover to clone more.

You can produce exponential growth with cloning. It also allows you to take the genetics of a particularly potent plant and use them to make more potent plants.

Not once you get used to it. Nobody taught me you arent supposed to insert it head first, like most things you shove up your butt. Inserting it base first keeps the spines from "fighting" the insertion. That's a pro tip.
