Golden Teacher Pin Porn! **UPDATE 9/10/15***

Just got my first sight of my dearly beloved and long awaited Golden Teacher pins! yay! This bin was 4 quarts spawn to one brick coir. I have 4 more bins with 6 Qt to one brick colonizing :-) I don't really like the side pinning. I know I need to black out the other bins so I can best avoid that. Are their any other ways I can get a more uniform pin set?

*****UPDATE***** 9/10/15
So the first flush was very unusual. The flush was so uneven, meaning pins came slowly one after another. In my experience I see a forest come up and i cut them all down. I waited until I saw the first pins to induce fruiting conditions. Does anyone have any tips to get a nice even pinset?
I picked these so far but above picture is whats still left after they were picked

Light hitting the side has nothing to do with side pinning and blocking it out will do nothing. I'd use a better liner like a thick black trash bag or painter's tape. When the liner sticks with the side of the substrate as it consolidates, it doesn't leave big gaps between the wall of the tub and the sub block (which promotes FAE, which is a huge pinning trigger).

Thank you for the advice I'll try that out on my next bin

Thank you btw! but yeah only one brick coir, 4 Qt spawn and thats all. My other 4 bins have 6 Qt spawn to 1 brick Coir. BUT my next 5 bins I added gypsum and did a 6 Qt spawn to 1 brick Coir also.

I've never cased any bin i've made and i've had great results, just this one in particular is for the lack of a better word acting differently then I'm used to.

If it wasn't cased, it looks like it was fruited well before full colonization.
You waited till you saw a pin to fruit? If it was pinning while that uncolonized it may have a contam

The bin is clear i waited till i saw full colonization; sides, top, and bottom waited a few more days, then pins came out and initiated fruiting procedures

I can see that it's clear. I'm sayin that the sub looks pretty uncolonized based on the pictures in the op and previous comments.
That sub appears to be less than 90% colonized based on the pictures.

naw dark areas are where I picked the mushies, underneath (picture dosent show it well) strands of myc are 100% colonized and consolidated. i tore up the substrate with some of the larger clusters theres your dark spots
