Finding Amanita muscaria in Portland, OR

I am going to be in downtown Portland, OR from September 15-18 with limited time for recreation. Is it worth trying to find a few hours to hunt fly agarics? Further, is the Hoyt Arboretum a high-probability location? Curious if anyone has additional thoughts on top of those already provided in other threads. Thank you.

Fly agarics do not contain psilocyn or psilocybin. I've personally tried muscaria extract and can say it is not very recreautional or fun.
Keep your eyes out for Norwegian spruce trees. They can usually be found growing together

I am quite interested regardless of psilocybin. I will look for the Norwegian spruce. Thanks for the help.

If you plan on ingesting them, I recommend while they're fresh peel the red skin of the top like an orange, start from the edge, careful to not knock of all the white dots. then dry the skin in the oven semi high heat. Ingest the only skins to reduce nausea and increase potency, all the good stuff is the color.
You can even smoke the dry skins for a mild effect.
Like drum of rum said though it's not very recreational, but enjoy
Enjoy

Much appreciated - thanks for the thoughts. When just using the peeled skin, I suppose you should adjust your dosage down a bit. Any thoughts on how much to adjust the dosage?

Libre,
I know of a place outside of Portland that has proven consistently fruitful. It is about a 20 minute drive west of downtown. To the best of my knowledge these are Amanita Muscaria (big red caps, white spores, dots, etc...)
They are found growing under oak trees and i have found some the size of a small pizza. If i can retrieve the photos i'll post them.
If you have a means of travel go ahead and PM me and I'll give you a location - i can not promise they will be fruiting at this time, though!
Best, P.Bons

Yah for dosage I recommend you try a very small piece, like a dime size, then wait 3 days make sure you don't have some unusual reaction. Then from there try 1 whole cap roughly palm size when fresh, dried like 2" diameter. Again wait few days for reaction if any. If no effect with one cap try a few more prolly not more than 5 or 6
I've found it's really hard to do too much of these in the effects aspect, but if I eat too many I get a tummy ache. They mostly make you feel kinda drunk and strange, if you take a nap you'll have crazy dreams.
I like to roll the skins up with a lil dank in a doob and get a nice high better than the mushy alone and different than the chronic.
I only pick the darkest red half open caps. The big open ones get rained on too much and lose allot of color and potency.
Have fun they're a great mushroom to hunt.you can see em from literally a mile away!
