Yea, I wouldn't recommend working with LC. Are you just trying to get more spore solution to knock more up? Agar would be 100 times better, and you can guarantee a clean growth. A lot of new growers get scared of the word agar and never venture forth. Pasty has made a great easy no pour agar tek that a lot of people swear by.

Absolutely the easiest way to start working with agar IMO. Get into agar, you'll never look back.

yeah I looked into agar and all the stuff seemed overwhelming like re-learning to grow mushies which took me months of research before I even tried. And now I almost have my first fully colonized jar. I want to avoid constantly buying syringes of the same thing so I'd rather be able to have some spores to store and inoculate with.

well the 5 jars knocked up on Wed are already showing patches of growth. This is my furthest colonized jar. the previous pictures are of the same jar.

Is there any way of working with agar without a... whats the word... glove box or sterile airflow chamber? can't remember what it is actually called..

no its not. you're gonna want a SAB anyway, they're so easy to both make and use and they protect your sterile media.(or even spores while making spore syringes)
you shouldnt pick up your cakes like that, you're gonna disturb the dry verm barrier so it can let contam spores get into the moist cake and germinate!

ok I'll rephrase, you shouldn't pick up your cakes at all! just rotate them if you wanna see all sides, no point in checking the bottom before everything else is colonized anyway

Here's a link to a SAB. If you want to start working with agar it is a must.

I use pasty plates and use a small but very clean bathroom. Tape off all the cracks(windows and door) then lysol the shit out of it, sterilize all surfaces and utensils, clean hands/arms, and wear a mask to minimalize airflow and I have not had a problem yet.

Or if you want to do it without ever opening the plate then start with syringe to agar, then liquid innoculant to another plate and so on.
Edit: this is not the best way cos you just have to get lucky to get a clean plate from spores....but a way none the less

Good looking growth! I'd also recommend building a SAB. Agar work is great.
