Most underated bands
    #22194826 - 09/05/15 10:09 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

I have found like 5-10 + amazing bands I have never even heard of today. Really digging this one Ambrosia right now.

Here is a song I just finished listening to:

Pretty sweet stuff, I will definitely be downloading some of their albums as they seem like a pretty great band.

I think MGMT is a rather interesting band, I have not heard that much by them, but recently listened to the album called Congratulations, must say I was impressed.

Here it is in all it's glory.

Fennario: MGMT is not an underrated band, they are well known, well liked and incredibly successful.

The warlocks are like the only "dead" I listen to anymore

Even then I save it for rare occasions.

This ambrosia song is pretty damn :vibin:

They seem like a pretty all around solid band.

Here are some other cool random groups I came across earlier:

Blue Pills

Electric Sun

Head East

Quicksilver Messenger Service

I'd have to say The Band and Doctor John are a couple of oldschool bands who are under appreciated. More modern ones would be Beck and The Flaming Lips.

Not to say that they aren't popular, but I think they are pretty genius.

Pavement is pretty underrated. So are the Stone Temple Pilots.
The Pixies used to be when they were actually producing music, but they blew up after the fact.

As far as modern bands go, Starfucker is REALLY underrated. Very good electronic/psychedelic.

 I really hope that was a joke.

I found this band last night from San Fran that formed in 1965, a lot of their songs sound a lot like the dead.

I think the dead may have ripped em off or vice versa. Or a bit of both, their second album is called Shady Grove and came out 1969....

Here is their first album:

Who Do You Love sounds a lot like some early dead songs...

the most famous classical artist ever is 'underrated'? ask anyone to name a classical musician, and most of them will say 'beethoven', and if it isnt that, they will say 'mozart'

Also, Huey Lewis and The News is really underrated imo. its quintessential pop

He's popular but underrated. Everyone I know says 'that shit sucks!' when you bring up Beethoven. I'm like, did you even listen to that recreation of his songs?? He's brilliant. Same with Mozart.

yeah he was definitely brilliant. i guess ive just never heard a bad word about his stuff

in highschool, i constantly read fantasy novels (like wheel of time, vlas taltos, khaavren romances, etc.) and when i was able to i would pop in earbuds and listen to classical while i was reading. mozart was my favorite, but i listened to a few others too

i honestly lost my taste in classical since then, but i can still enjoy it if im in the mood. i'm rarely able to sit down and listen to the entirety of something like waltz of flowers or toccata and fugue though

Haha, well if ya don't think they're underrated (and I'd say everyone of them you mentioned are), pop in a classical CD, or turn it to the classical station while you're with your friends, and count how long it takes them to make a funny comment.

"What's this?" "Why are you listening to this?" "Turn the station bro" "Oh yeah, that's what I'm talking about! (sarcastic tone)"

I like the stringed instrument composers of that period the most. The lute is truly a beautiful sounding instrument. Would be cool to hear it more in 21st century rock.

The Tubes

I saw them around 1981 or so.  I think they were the first show after the Who concert stampede in Cincinnati.  They kicked ass and their encore was 3 Who songs that they did perfectly.

My dad was at The Who concert in Cincy. He said he remembers him & his friend getting pushed against the walls trying to enter, but they had no idea anyone had died or even that anyone was injured until well after. Similar less notable incident happened at a Black Sabbath concert they attended in Cincy too.

I changed the video for white punks.

I went to a Tull concert at Manley Field House at Syracuse University.  The week or so before there had been a break in for the Allman Brothers.  We went on spec without tickets, hitch hiking in from Manlius.  We got there and milled about a while.  Finally some giant guy yanked the side door where we hanging open and we all rushed in.  Then the people at the front rushed in.  Zimba gave a security guard a forearm as we were running in.  There was a second bank of doors and they were closed and swung out into the crowd.  I was off my feet in the crush but somebody inside pushed one of the doors open and I pushed the guy between me and it through and I was in.  Thick as a Brick.

When we were hitching back after the show the same guy picked us up.  He wasn't at the show.  We were kinda figuring we were gonna be walking the whole way but we got lucky as shit.

I have been enjoying this German band Lake. Their singer has some serious soul and they groove very well:

Love their guitarist and keys player.

Also been digging the group Masters Of Reality, their first album is pretty sweet.
