I weighed it at 30lbs without water or beer.
Item list: 1. Gregory Z65 backpack 65L 2. Camelbak Alpine Explorer backpack 30L for the summit push 3. Marmot sawtooth 15 degree down sleeping bag 4. Kelty TN2 tent 5. Patagonia down sweater, down jacket 6. Base layer pants/shirt 7. Mini collapsible lantern 8. GPS emergency beacon 9. Compass, first aid kit, knife, iodine tablets, emergency blanket, headlamp 10. 1 3L camelbak bladder 11. 1 nalgene 12. 1 jetboil minimo camp stove w/ gas 13. 2 freeze dried dinners 14. 2 pairs of wool socks 15. 2 dry bags for clothes and sleeping bag 16. Outdoor Research shell 17. 1 empty 1 gallon jug for water purification at camp 19. Weed + bowl + carrying case 20. 1 roll toilet paper 21. Gloves 22. Wool beanie
Seems like the only thing I could really change out would be the dry bags for one large trash bag liner. Thoughts? I guess the stove/gas is optional as I could just make a fire but nothing like some warm food on a cold night

Dude if your pack is only 30lbs for backpacking you're doing great.
Mine must have been 75lbs when I went to Algonquin in July. Only on the way there though because I brought a few treats to cook as well as meal replacement drinks for when we were portaging.
Food weighs a lot. Tent/poles/sleeping bag don't weigh that much alone but everything adds up quickly.
I always bring a spare small flashlight and leave it in my dry bag in case something happens to my headlamp. Also you might want to bring some extra batteries.

I love the wilderness but I hate carrying large loads on my back, are legit camping backpacks a lot less strain even with larger weights? Or do I need to find a pack mule or someting

When I went on my moutain hike earlier this year, I packed lite enough but probably put on double the weight picking up rocks along the way.
Such a newbie but

It's just to backpack into missouri gulch to get positioned to summit before sunrise so I only have the somewhat essential items. Water and a gatorade will add 6 pounds and misc food items probably 3-4. Probably looking at a 40lb pack at the end.

Camping backpacks are the only way to go when you have a lot of weight to carry. They have wide straps to spread the load, as well as buckles for both your waste and stomach region.
Not to mention they can hold everything you need and there are lots of compartments for specific things that they've thought of. My camping backpack also has a built in tarp in a pocket so that all my things don't get soaked when it rains.

Oh so just a 1 night thing? That's probably why it's so light.
You can make a fire if you leave your stove but you'll need to bring a hatchet.

I remember backpacking the Olympic peninsula and collecting rocks goodtimes.
-------------------- Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

Honestly, fire is warmer than a stove and a hatchet is useful for many things. You can cook on top of a few flat rocks instead of bringing a metal grill. Not to mention besides the fact that a fire will keep you warm, it's really fun to sit around a campfire in the wilderness.
Also, if it's been raining, you can get dry wood from dead trees that are still standing. Fallen ones may be soaked, but the middle area of standing dead ones should be dry.

Unfortunately I would get lynched for making a fire in the wilderness in this region at the moment
