Super Fertilizer.
    #22192604 - 09/05/15 01:04 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Ok, i did recently made a friend and introducted him to cacti and stuff. He does work with plants, and has access to a lot of fertilizers. I did explained him a lot a bout Trichs and mescaline stuff, he's now really into it.

Now he's tryng to create the perfect Fertilizer for cacti. Of course there is no perfect fertilizer for all the genuses, but there must be something "in the middle" that can work great. Wubba lubba dub-dub!!!
I explained him about the NPK Ratio for cacti, and he ended up preparing a
something similar to 1 3 5 NPK wich is actually a 8,1 N 24,7 P and 38 K .

But now, he asks me about microelements plus calcium and magnesium. I don't have any idea for those. Can somebody help me?

A lot of growers use kelp or seagrass extracts to supply the secondary and micronutrients. If you need more secondary nutes just add Cal/Mag complex and sulfur dust

The ratios I would have no idea

The Cactus Primer By Arthur C. Gibson, Park S. Nobel has a graph illustrating the nutritional needs of cacti on page 205. It would help you a lot but I can't get access to it without paying

Use organic methods, not synthetic crap.

That would be my recommendation.

i do understand that Organicals are better both for plants and for enviroment, but right now this fertilizer is the cheapest i can get, since i will have it for free. Anyhow, this friend just wanted me to ask. It won't be organical, but if there's a way to improve it, i would like to know how (still referring to those micronutrients and Mg and Ca )

Both calcium and magnesium are needed by plants, in varying degrees, and so are micro-elements. The thing with fertilizers is that you need to decide what do you want from it; is it like a hydroponical solution, in which everything the plant absorbs comes from it, or is it a mean to supplement what the soil/substrate can provide? Most elements, macro and micro (and the in-betweens, like calcium and magnesium), the plant obtains from the soil (nitrogen is a completely different story, though) as long as it is a relatively "virgin" soil. If it was used in agriculture, you can bet it's been depleted of a lot of its nutritional value.

Anyway, please reconsider your NPK formulation. Going for such strong concentrations (and assuming you will not be mixing tens of gallons of water at a time) can make even small errors in dosage potentially very dangerous.

the idea was 1 gram for 8 liters of water.

Yep, I understand. But 1 gram is a pretty small amount and making mistakes when measuring such small quantities is common and potentially dangerous.

But then again you may have a very accurate and precise scale, so...

Pee on everything to mark your territory and establish dominance. Also feed the plants!
