eBay auction

looks clean enough, the guy has good feedback, and hes just selling supplies for mycology. it costs $19.95 plus $20 for shipping, meaning $39.95.
What you are seeing is brown rice and vermiculite sealed and sterilized in half pint jars. Lids have holes punched in four spots and then taped to keep sterile. A 1/2 inch layer of vermiculite is also placed on top of the substrate to keep it sterile. There is a piece of aluminum in between the vermiculite and substrate to prevent moisture loss. Jars are made to order so please have patience for delivery. Ussually about 24 hours after I recieve the winning bid they are mailed out. You must be 18 years of age and have no intention of using these jars for any illegal cultivation. These jars are sold for edible and/or medicinal mycological use only. Jars come in lots of twelve. Resealed in the original box. Good luck, be safe, and always, but always do your research. Mushrooms are a great hobby for everyone. Great for school projects too. (I also add a secret ingredient to the jars that will increase the growth rate and yield.)
should i buy it? im really new at this and want some expert advice. it looks like it will make it a lot easier on me the noob heh. it will be shipped to a safe location.

Sounds a tad overpriced,
and I wouldn't trust someone on Ebay to make my jars...
not to mention EBay doesn't guarantee your privacy, so if any authorities come asking it will be your ass.
So, in conclusion, don't buy it. Make them yourself. We will help

Go to your local grocery store and ask...if they don't carry them go to the next one...you'll find 'em. I found a large variety at Kroger. - CH - PS- these are exactly what I am about to use...hell, you can even order them right here for 10 bucks... http://store.yahoo.com/flyyourflag/alcorbal12wi3.html

I was going to do the same thing you were....Think about it. After you buy thoese you still need to make an incubator and terrarium. Why not just buy BRF, Verm, and jars. That cost me under $13. I havent started yet. Im waiting on Ralphster for my syringes. Then im just going to boil the jars. "If you want something done right you have to do it yourself" Ive been getting everything for almost a month now and in a couple days I will finally be able to start.

It's $3 now, I would pay 10 times that before I would even think of complaining.

Any Safeway or Albertson should have them. There normaly on the very top shelf near the rest of the "caning" supplies (Kerr or Ball). You have to have a Safeway somwhere near you.
"It's $3 now, I would pay 10 times that before I would even think of complaining." I agree

If your ever going to buy off an ebay auction id check to see if they are a legitimate vendor (IE do they have a website), and make sure that you check to make sure they are what they claim because im sure someone out there will end up gettin contaminated spores or poisonous ones for that matter! Just be careful.

I wouldn't worry about the seller, if he has good feedback that should be enough. However, I wouldn't want outsiders monitoring the auction to know I was buying pf jars .... after all what other mycogical use is there for brown rice flour other than growing cubes.
Even if it takes a month to get the supplies .. do it youself!

Another easy way to avoid publicity of what your buying is send the seller a question. More often then not they will be willing to sell it outside of ebay on a more direct and discreet transaction. Just something to think about! I still say make them yourself tho!
