Airborne Contaminants

Greetings, mycologists, cultivators and others.
I wanted to know how to go about getting rid of airborne contaminants for when the fruiting begins.
Should any of you know how, please share your knowledge.

Oh, and by the way, I was thinking of using an oil lamp or just a candle to sterilize the air.

You don't. You rely on your sterile procedures up until spawning. If your grains are clean, everything else should follow suit. Fruiting is far from clean. It's done in open air. I'd be willing to bet my substrates right now are covered in billions of mold spores. Mycelium just has a natural defense against contams. They won't germinate on a fully colonized substrate for a few flushes.

Also useless. The only place you gotta be sterile in is your still air box.

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, it's really appreciated and I understand what you're saying. Keeping the still air box sterile, shouldn't be too difficult, right?

Not at all, if you have the correct techniques. Check out the improve your sterile techniques link in my signature

I read it and I appreciate the effort you put into it. I was also thinking of keeping the tub sterile by cleaning it with alcohol and having a couple oil lamps near by but I'll try both methods and see which works best.

A still air box doesn't work by being sterile, it works because it has still air.
Wipe the box down with soapy water, make sure the top isn't dripping, load it up, let it sit for 20 minutes, go to work quickly but carefully.
You can never get a still air box sterile, don't even bother with that. The wet sides will help trap contaminants in the air, and if the air is still most will have fallen to the bottom of the box and be trapped by the moisture.
Some don't even wet their boxes and still have great success. Still air is key, don't forget that. Unless you're in a positive pressure lab, you will never get your air "sterile".
Candles/lamp do jack shit for the air, use them for flame sterilizing your metal tools though.

Hahaha, but I thought that you didn't have to worry too much about colonised cakes getting contaminated.

I think you're confused.
A still air box is used for sterile work like agar and inoculating spawn/cakes.
A fruiting chamber, like a shotgun fruiting chamber, is used to fruit your fully colonized cakes.
They're very different in design, and serve very different functions.
