One of my friends is in the service and he was telling me about his drill sergeant's personality sorter.
According to him there are 3 types of people.
1. People that belong to this category see everything in black and white. For every situation, right and wrong are easily distinguished. These people are deep rooted in their beliefs.
2. People in this category are able to see a shade of grey. To them, the world's problems do not always have cut and dry answers. However, these people can take a stand and are prone to action.
3. People in this category are able to see the implicit complication of every problem. They are able to understand both sides of a problem clearly, which results in hopeless deadlock.
I asked my friend if these categories had any hierchy or if they were evaluative. He said they were not...
I'm curious, what type of person are you and which would you say is the best to be???
Keep in mind that there are high and low's for each number. A person who is a low number 1 could also be considered a high number 2.

I'm probably a strong number 3.
Is it the "best" type? Probably not...
Is there a "best" type? Again, probably not...

Most people that I talk to categorize themselves as number 3's.

All three personalities have their pitfalls.
An arguement for number 1's would point out that these are the people who get things done. The pitfall is "Hitler."
An arguement for number 2's would probably state that they seem to be the mean between two extremes. I guess I can't think of any pitfalls.
An arguement for number 3's...These people are usually deep thinkers who don't act rashly, but the pitfall is they often don't act at all.

If it were possible, I'd slot myself into an integration of all three.. depending on circumstance.

I try to avoid situations where I'll have to make decisions like number 1's. People in this catagory make good cops. I aim for number 2 its the best of the other two but I probably fall mostly into 3.

i like to think that when a certain line of thinking ends in a paradox i can drop it all together and accept it as it is. when someting ends in a paradox i can identify it as "reality" and move on to the next paradox.

That isn't giving enough credit to Hitler. Peace.

Hehe, why not? He seemed to be a genius, and had quite elaborate plans...
I'd be willing to suspect that he was all three, whichever was necessary....
Peace.

There are many ways to categorize people. Aristotle used four different categories. The Myers-Briggs test shows that I am an INTJ.
Take it from there.

I'm a Number 2.
I'd say generally speaking, 2 is the most balanced of the three...Because lets face it, NOT everything is always going to be black and white. And as for number 3, that just leads to indecision and that's not so good.
So, overall, Number 2 is generally the most balanced.

Number 3 is the best. See both sides, understand that nothing is black and white. This personality type is the best at taking action. When you know both sides are solid then you can go with the "whatever" option at every turn. Tigght

See both sides, understand that nothing is black and white. Number 2 is characteristic of that, as it is in the MIDDLE, and thus, sees both sides adjacent to it easier.
This personality type is the best at taking action. Number 3 is by far most likely to be stuck in INDECISION, than any other number.
When you know both sides are solid then you can go with the "whatever" option at every turn. Tigght. Again, also a characteristic of 2. The downfall of 3, as I've pointed out, is that they often get too stuck in the complications and thus get stuck in decision-making and so on.
So, overall...I say 2 is best.
