The Shroomery and Mind Media are obviously fronts for something much less safe for our fragile psyches

This thread is something everyone should take into consideration for many reasons.
I love this site and this hobby; and I use to be a supporter (not for a significant period of time). What I don't like about this site is when I see idiots who just don't think before posting. They make us all look bad and can put legitimate vendors at risk of getting tied up in court on conspiracy charges.
Some sponsors, I don't know or care what happened; for instance Ralphster. Looking at his posts it seems like he dug his own grave, got baked and starting buggin or some shit; I never gave him any of my business. As far as him supposedly scamming people, again don't know. The vendor who got busted for child porn, I hope he never gets out of jail.
What people should really be asking themselves is who are some of the morons with accounts and what has happened to many of the people who dipped out after averaging 5+ posts a day (and I'm not talking about the moderators).
Do I still love this site? Absolutely!! It has taught me so much about permaculture, gourmet-medicinal mushroom and fueled my interests to continue my education in other areas of Science.
I haven't really logged in or browsed this site much for a few years & I always mostly searched and read; never was big into posting on the forum. The biggest reason is I have no interest in getting into a measuring contest of any sorts, or to create a political uproar by re-opening a thread that is x amount of years old that is still up, filled with of complete junk science and horrible inaccuracies.
When internet forums started to become mainstream, all of the tech & science based forums were filled with users with cleft assholes that have been using online forums since the mid 70's with about a 1200 baud, dial up modem.
Even most old school guru's on forums with topics such as Electrical Engineering and Linux have lightened up on newbies; those sites were notoriously the biggest pricks. Their ritualistic practice of mental degradation by intellectually sodomy for anyone who was having issues with the information pinned in various threads on the site was routine
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying wipe the bottom of everyone who hasn't learned how to search forums before creating a thread; however the Shroomery needs to freshen up their database, links, TEKs and shitty posts; however they see fit. Many forum sites start from scratch, they keep whats good and offer an option to search all the old posts.
I want to see this site up and educating for years to come, as I said in the last post I made; it's great to see the expansion topics and I would love to donate or have a supporter account again; but I don't think the money is properly going towards updating this site. Not to mention you get very little for what they are asking for; if you are a little tech savvy you can set up much better encryption for free. Setting up an easy way for users to give a few bucks as a thank you has proven to be more effective for most sites.
I'm sure I will get bashed by many for saying this; sorry that's how I feel.

This thread is inspiring me to learn the full history of the shroomery and possibly make some kind of documentary.

Mind Media owns the Shroomery, which is owned by the admins.

Nothing high and mighty about being an admin
The Members are what it's all about, the Shroomery would be nothing without it.
The Sponsors and Supporters have faith in us and bring in the bread.
The Moderators carry the biggest burden of maintaining the website, and there are so many of them to do so, and they do this as volunteers with no pay.
Then there's the Admins who keep an eye on things as to direction, disputes, finances, the tech side of things and improving the website which is a neverending task. We do what we can but, we're just cogs in the machine and the machine is there for the members and the passers through, of the latter we have over a million unique visitors a month.
