My Court Hearing 1

I won!
I looked up the statutes, laws, and police procedure for my state and I made a court defense. At the hearing it was obvious that the part-time officer did not know the laws.
I feel like a champion!
For me this was a wake up call. My state representative showed me how to research law - and thus I learned a valuable lesson. Know your state laws!

That happens far more often than you'd think. Cops aren't paid to think, they're paid to assess threats and act. About all they think about...
That's why they're usually complete dicks

Did you defend yourself without a lawyer? If so, you did a damn good job. Researching law can be a hell of an undertaking. In fact, that is what a lot of Law School entails. No one and no lawyer could possibly ever know every law, so it's important to know how to do legal research in preparation for cases.

The charges were for breaking the borough noise ordinance.
I did indeed represent myself without a lawyer. It was fun. I even had to deliver subpoenas to several witnesses.
Initially, the day before my hearing, the court did not subpoena the witness against me. I had to remind them that it was my right to see the witness against me.
She lives 5 miles away from me - outside of the borough.
