Is there anyone in here that managed to sober up and stay sober?
If so. Give me tips man. How the fuck do I stop? How do I deal with the boredom? How do I deal with the cravings? How did you pull it off?
I think this thread would be good advice for most of us. We all need a sober cmpanion to give us tips at some point.

Define sober?
I'm not injecting heroin or methamphetamine into my arms daily like I was for the past five or so years, however I still occasionally drink and would smoke weed if I could.
Aside from a week excursion where I did abuse opiates, I am relatively sober, and have been for a little over three months. I avoid buying drugs online, because it'd be so nice to just buy Benzo's and Fent's RC's online like everybody else, but I purposely avoid it.
I'm bored a lot, so I work, and am looking for a second job. I spent lots of time talking to people here, and other various social media mediums.
Start projects, cook fancy foods, listen to good music, I could list numerous things that I do to pass the time, but the painful truth is that if you have been abusing drugs for a long period of time, it'll take a long period of time for your natural reward pathway to heal itself, therefore it is difficult to get joy and pleasure from normal experiences, since we are use to flooding our brains with abnormal amounts of serotonin and dopamine.
I've done AA/NA meetings before in the past, and have numerous of their books still.
Peace, love, and understanding brother. If you ever wan't somebody to chat too about sobriety, PM me.

You asked, I delivered.
People define sobriety in various ways, some people exclude Marijuana, some people exclude alcohol.
I never had a problem with the latter.

I'm a sucker for GABAergics as well. Honestly, I think I'm just addicted to being addicted to things if that makes any sense. If I have a handle I'll crush it, If I have an quarter of bud I'll smoke it, If I have a bunch of bars I'll benzo binge for a week. I think its just some inherent personality flaw I have. I've managed to stay functional so thats a plus. I don't really have any advice except good luck man.

I used to be a cocaine & xanax addict. The addictions coincided each other. For about two and a half years I'd say. I'd pop a few bars and buy coke daily -- and not just fucking twenty bags.
My full paychecks were going to the habits. I mean I was fucking working solely to support my addictions at that point. And then I eventually lost jobs (plural), severely damaged relationships, and even stole from family when I was broke. I was scum, basically.
It took being faced with eviction, and being fucking homeless, before finally making the decision to quit. I cut ties with a dude I was pretty tight with -- because he was a coke dealer. I went cold turkey on the bars and went through an absolutely hellish, seemingly month plus long withdrawal period.
That was 8 years ago. Now the only substances that I partake in are psychedelics. That's it. Oh, and I enjoy drinking once a week. My cocaine & benzo days however are now a distant memory, thankfully.

I've had some pretty bad addictions and got through them. I don't really know what advice to offer though. It just takes strong determination and 100% commitment. It's just a personal decision that you have to make for yourself. It's not easy, but it get's easier every day as you go along.

Ex meth addict here. Just stop doing the drugs and don't be a pussy.
Also, I got prescribed ADD meds and take them properly and I find they help with the meth cravings.

I have real ADD but it's easy to fake there is no obvious way to tell when you are talking to someone.
Go to a doc, tell them your symptoms, they refer you to an ADD doctor, then you do a test and whether you have it or not you can put two and two together and get the script by answering the questions correctly.
I'm on 30mg of vyvanse a day. Never taken two pills together and honestly people with ADD are at higher rates for addiction. It'll be helpful for school which starts Tuesday.

I had a pretty bad addiction to stimulants. I was a alcoholic for about a year until I quit them all but stimulants were my real problem. Did the rehab/halfway house thing. Doing that kinda makes you quit but when you get out you're kinda back where you started wanting to still do drugs/drink. Time away reduces the cravings but the desire is still there.
I use kratom as a crutch and it works. Aside from my daily kratom doses I have little desire to do other drugs or drink. When I stop taking kratom that urge comes back.

Having a history of drug abuse does not prevent you from getting prescriptions for legitimate medical conditions.

I do.
Just because I do not, does not mean I have not had a long and difficult battle with substance abuse, or lack any advice or wisdom that may or may not help you.

I've never noticed any comedown.
It is converted into dexamphetamine which is dexedrine.
It is a hell of a lot better then concerta dude. They started me on that shit and it sucked donkey dick.
Oh and funny thing about getting the script. He asked me questions like whether I have been to jail, have used any drugs or whatever. I said no and no and my file history is jam packed with abuse history too. I think these psychiatrists don't look at your history cause if he did he would not give me anything.

I know. I wasn't saying that his meth addiction should've prevented him from getting one. I was kinda asking what he said to the doctor to get them to prescribe it. Was it just like, "Hey I really have trouble focusing and I get really tired during the day?"
