My Bridgesii monstrose has some kind of rot, need help...
    #22189154 - 09/04/15 05:37 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

So we just had a couple days of rain here, and just now I noticed a place near the base of my cactus has begun to rot. What can I do? What are my options?

pull it from the soil, let the roots dry...watch it closely, and if it is spreading, you will need to take cuttings to callous and reroot.

if you can post clear pics, we can help you better. The problem with TBM is that they spontaneously rot for no reason. Bridgesii are prone to spotting and blemishes already but the monstrose form is especially finicky. I had to pull a pup off mine this week because it rotted for no reason.

I would ride it out unless you are really attached to the plant.  Check these out... they're still alive only they've rotted and healed several more times over the last year.

I got a ton of rotting/healed TBM photos.  Stuff that looked dead then came back strong.

It looks 1000x better today than yesterday. It seems to be drying nicely and I hope it heals up quickly.
