Someone is picking those in Salem, or I'm grossly misidentifying. The first few times they were ripped up and gone, subsequent times they've been picked then dumped away from the patch. Also doing the same with boletes. They're upturned everywhere.

found a rather large Cyanescens and a few less mature ones that I left to reach their full potential. these are the first cyanescens I have found and I have been looking HARD for a long time. I spent a couple years just studying the environment they should be found in so I know exactly what to look for. I spent the last three seasons getting very confused and frustrated when I would find patches all over the place full of craters with mycelium at the bottom. quite discouraging that I live in a town where people take as much as they can get and leave only what they never saw in the first place. Anyway, the big daddy that I took home weighed in at 25g wet

I have a question for you all.
Been trying to guard a patch I found from my natural competitors (slugs and other bugs) anyways I madde a circle of slug O pellets around the patch and have yet to see any more show up. Now I am noticing a bunch of little mosquito like things flying around the patch. Any idea what they could be and should I be worried about them laying eggs all over?
The way they are congregating around the patch has me worried they might even have hatched from them.
Anyone ever had similiar issues? Should I try and cover the patch better or something? I don't want to be eating maggots if I eat or give away any of the patch.

Yep! this year in the couv seems to be a bit late. haven't found any patches that are really fully grown.

Sounds like it might be fungus gnats. If you ever grow cannabis you'll learn to hate them as a minor but persistent annoyance. I get rid of them by soaking mosquito dunks in water and spraying the soil around my plants. The dunks contain BT, it's a bacteria that only harms soft body larva. So no chems and nothing to harm you if you spray the patch with it.

Many years ago I would get bt in a little container meant to mix up with water and spray. Keeps the cabbage loopers at bay... That would be simpler than soaking mosquito dunks, if you can still get it that way.

That sounds about right, ton of people grow weed around here and I am pretty sure I have seen some before.
Should I be worried much about them and do you think they are actually breeding on the mushrooms?
I will have to look into this BT bacteria and mosquito dunks, thanks for the tips!

So on my 5th hunt, I decided to say in my area a bit more...And I found these guys! About 4 patches, some rotting and others doing quite well. I glad I found this spot for next year! Spread my pretty spores spread!

Three questions...
1. I have black liquidity stuff on my cyans, it can be wiped off. What is it and is it safe?
2. I have black rot on a some cyans, mostly tiny spots. Can it be cut away or should I just dump those cyans?

Don't mix the rotten ones in with the healthy ones. Make sure that you dry them well, if they are slimy or smell bad throw them away.

Yep. I ate some overripe azzies. God I sat there tripping with the biggest stomach ache in the world just wanting to vomit or go to the bathroom. Never again. Horrible. I should've listened when people said toss them, slurry them, or even something as simple as mashing em back in the sand near myc. Dunno how helpful that would be to a patch but it couldn't hurt.

Wouldn't tea better in that case?

Once something has started rotting I don't think making tea will make a difference, I could be wrong but I am fairly sure that is the case.
Making tea may kill many bacteria on wild mushrooms, but like mold once it is visibly there you should just avoid it since it could harbor toxins.
That is my general understanding at least.

I added more pics to figure what is too mature for cyans or what might be questionable. I know black is completely a no go I think that is quite obvious.
Is this cyan too mature, heavily bruised, a discolouration?
The gills look okay, no black rot or major discolouration
That black stuff what is it? I wiped it off and cyan looked normal/clean
 Just another gill shot
And thanks to those who answered my questions, you've all been awesome!
