If those are the only choices I'd say Psilocybe cyanescens, but of course that isn't conclusive.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

To tall for cyan. It is a taller type for sure.

You might be right, except about it's being too tall for a cyan.

I would say I have never seen a study showing any solid results of pins being tested. This would be an interesting undertaking. Say 1g of pins as opposed to 1g of prime mature fruit...
Personally, I find it laughable that the organism would produce a said amount of Psilocybin and Psilocin, send said amount of chemicals to each mycelial knot within it's mind-mindbogglingly large network, just to be distributed throughout the growing fruit body, but no more or no less... Mycelium knows what it's doing, and to think that fluid containing Psilocybin or Psilocin is not flowing throughout the entire mycelial network during fruiting, being moved throughout the fruit body while it is alive,
At least IMO

I know this is out of season, but I got a buzz and I remembered this pic I took, so I'm gonna run with it...found this on a golf course last year April/may...definite glueing reactions, and looked similar to psilocybes under the cap...this is the only picture I have stiill, but have the specimen in a Dixie cup somewhere still...lol...cap is about the diameter of a dime...

Yeah it's hard to say or know. With mycelium having such a high intelligence level of its own, it is a mystery still.

It's a course South of PDX in the valley, so I don't know if I'd go with allenii...grass next to the tee...closest tree was probably a fir...I noticed the bluing right away

What struck me most was the fact it was early summer/late spring...wasn't sure what one could find at that time of year here...

Is it the case, though, that the psiloc(yb)in is carried in extracellular fluids? I have no idea - I haven't seen whatever literature might discuss it - but in any organism there's always plenty of substances that never leave the cell while it's alive.

Compare to Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata

Uh looks like cyan pins with azzy Myc.
Edit: I made it a rule whenever I acciedntally pick a pin in the field or when I discover a new Psilocybe I have to eat it. The pins do not have all the psilocybin in them yet. They are unripe fruit. Not much flavor either.

I usually find mushrooms with that at the end of the season. It may be from sitting water on the cap for a long period of time. I've always wondered bout that though.

Awww, the one on the bottom right is helping the kids stay out of the rain.

Thanks for these pics guys. It's getting late and I've gotta spend more time hunting locally. Lots of driving to get to the coast but I'd love to get at least one other species before the season is over.
We get another one come spring though right? Is it different than fall? Looking at yearly weather charts seems to suggest that they would, but I don't know yet what winter does to them.
