Little hunts over the last week or so
the biggest amanita that I've personally found

And my first beach cyans! (I usually find them in woody debris & grass & stuff) Sneaked around some beach-grass for a couple minutes and sure enough...

And some more cyans from earlier in the week, this cute little guy

And his two friends

Am I crazy or does the last picture include some azurescens?

I mean.. maybe? The morphology mostly matches but I'd love to see the base of the stem. If I picked it in dune grass I'd think "ooh an azzie". If it is there's probably tons more around it and not far. These things are spreading like wildfire, I had no idea they grew like this, wow.

I think it's just a young cyanescens, they have umbos too, this one is just on the verge of turning upwards - plus this isn't in beach-grass, it's inland at a wetland restoration type place growing in the midst of a cyanescens patch

I've seen azzy and cyan fruit just feet from eachother in coastal dune zones.

Here's one of the patches I've been watching, this was from Wednesday.

North Portland, get ready for ovoids.

For those of you still looking in parks, branch out. The parks get heavily picked over, get creative and find more places with chips. Out in the hundos there aren't many sidewalks, so many of the front yards are just chips...

Do you guys find that growth only occurs in certain chips? It seems out here in the Sacramento area there is a lot of redwood chips and there is not a whole lot
growing in them at all. I thought that redwood was some sort of natural antibacterial growth stopper. I don't freaking know though maybe it's the lack of rain.

Here's one of the Stuntzii clusters from the spot I found yesterday. There are definitely some others, but mixed in with non-actives There are probably fewer than I thought last night but still nice to see them.
