But how can you be sure they are all cyans when they seem to exhibit more of the macro features of allenii. Many of the mature specimens have down curling edges to the cap with a rather defined nipple. Very few in jousts pic show any signs of upward waves. And in the center right of betas you can see a rather large mature that hangs down like big umbrella.
What stands out to you to say they would be cyan over allenii?
P. allenii have yellow caps not hazel like cyans, they also don't curl upward. The problem is that pins of cyans, allenii and azures looks pretty much incidental up to a certain stage of development.

Woah, and these are in the Bellevue area? That's magnificent! Never knew Allenii were around on our stomping grounds. Only find cyanescens , and I'm where you seem to be, in the Bellevue/Redmond area.

The allenii are actually in south king county. I've been talking with N05842 and we believe the patch to possibly be an allenii/cyan hybrid. Or if not allenii at all potentially a cool cyan variation. Regardless they are unique and VERY potent after my friends bio assay.

Mjk or anyone with a serious amount of knowledge in the subject, been thinking and am curious. Since it takes two spores to make a fruiting myc, are cyan and allenii close enough genetically to make a hybrid like horses and donkeys making mules?
Just a note to hybrids are often sterile, would that occur in mushroom hybrids as well if that's possible? Cause these ones in question do produce spores.

Are the spores viable though? Could just be sterile spores possibly.

Gawd that's interesting. Won't be surprised if these types of variations start popping up immensely in the next decade. Before ya know it, there'll be weird azure hybrids growing in the city, lol.

When I get some Time this weekend I'm going to stop by the MIQ, take some better photos and start an ID thread maybe.

Used the search function on this site, this has probably been discussed a few thousand times in other thread. I've personally seen P. allenii and P. cyanescens growing right next to each-other (I've also seen pictures of P. cyanescens and P. azurescens doing the same)-

I've never seen anything that looks like a mixture of any two of these species even though they are very closely related-

This kind of topic is better suited for the discussion thread.

Thanks, and point taken...
So let's all look at a fun picture of cyans growing right next to something not so closely related

Ground cyan powder. Homogenized multi genetic doses in capsules for consistency.

Take that powder, weigh it out in gram piles and then heat up some chocolate and get a ice tray. Fill each tray with 1/2 chocolate, then put 1 gram of ground shroom in each one. Top off with remaining chocolate. Be sure to stir each cube of chocolate with a toothpick. Put in freezer. 2 hours later, take out. Store with parchment and foil.

Jesus Beta!!! That's an insane amount already!
Finally got my pictures uploaded. I think compressing the images on my phone has made it impossible to upload them via mobile now.
Here's one patch from last year that I picked quite normally. Plus a "through the leaf" shot.

This picture is actually feet away from my very very first patch, which once was a fairy ring of cyanescens. That was 3 years ago. Nowadays people know about this spot and it gets picked quite often. I was surprised to even see these.

Now this is the spot I was complaining in my last post that was raped. I actually haven't been taking care of it at all, this was my first time finding this patch. The fact that I picked it a few days before and left only pins, then there was nothing, made me know he raped it and was being impatient.

I ended up taking an entire brown paper bag full of mycelium from that spot today. I'm just sick and tired of every single spot that i've been watching, getting raped or torn up so this time its my turn. Usually I would never think about doing something like this but it had to happen. I made a huge woodchip bed for it and added apple and alder chips with some hay on top. I'll take pics soon when its finished.
Also checked some other spots today and found some nice ones that got overgrown in blackberry bushes. Nobody must want to get poked lol.
I checked one last spot and also dropped off a few good sized chunks of mycelium and noticed some really suspicious tweaker looking type people staring at the woodchip gardens right near the spot I was gonna stop at. Walked about 15 feet after parking and found the largest amount of mycelium I've ever seen in my life. I'm talking like 3 huge areas just covered in white thick strands. One of the areas had a bunch of fully grown cyanescens and another had some babies. Im hoping those tweakers dont know about that spot cause there goes another great area.
Anyways, great fucking pictures guys and cheers to a wonderful season so far!
