That is the exact function of an ID thread. Do a spore print, brownish they're foes, jet black they're cincts.

I'm pretty sure I found some Pan Cincts in my friends backyard, blackish gills and one to two toned caps that are slight orange in the nipple area and greyish on the rest of the cap, found in long healthy grass that was fertilized and also in an area that was ugly unhealthy grass..

cincts tend to have pretty red stems with visible vertical lines up the stem. they have dark grey/black gills, especially after spore dispersal. Foes have light brown gills and have light tan/white stems missing the red and striations. Cinctulus stems are significantly chunkier ime. You can smell the difference between the two as well where cinctulus smell like most actives I have came across aside from gyms. It looks like you might have both species.

Awesome day hunting today, I moved up here last year in December and couldnt find a thing. I scouted all year waiting for fall and found many promising locations. Checked a couple weeks ago but thought we needed more rain and I was right! These are all that the same location, hundreds of Cyans just everywhere.

found a Cinctulus on a friends lawn with a slight blue foot, then proceeded to check a manure fed field that I sprayed cinctulus spores on months earlier and found these! it's amazing how agressive/resilient these guys are, and the return from spore spray to fruits is incredibly quick. very happy things are finally starting to cool down and pop in the willamette valley

I have my doubts that these are Panaeolus cinctulus

God damn. A question for PDX fellahs. Does anybody know if parks and rec will dig up a known patch when it starts fruiting in order to keep people from collecting?
We just got our first decent rain a week ago and one of the big, well known patches in the SE that I know other people here frequent is already raped to hell and gone. Like not even your standard noob rampage, I'm talking fucking catastrophic destruction of the living organism. It looks like somebody shoveled up a 10 foot long 2 foot wide trench of mulch where the bulk of the patch used to be along a trail and tilled up the remaining stuff into the mud. I found 4 straggling fruits that were deep under cover and they were about 40% developed, not pins but not wavy yet, still a prominent umbo and not sporolating yet, just about where I expected everything to be. It's almost inconceivable considering where the patch is that people who were just collecting could have done that much damage, they would have had to have trash bags or buckets/wheelbarrows to haul off all the missing mulch. It looks to me like it was a purposeful hate crime against the mushroom hunters of Stumptown by the authorities.
If it was on the off chance a crew of tweakers or stupid teen hunters, they are the scum of the earth for what they did to that patch. I usually don't get mad about some pin-raping and inconsiderate hunting but this was fucked.

I've had this happen twice but I doubt it was parks and rec for me, also at a very know about area, maybe it was a concerned citizen?
