So today I just about lost faith in hunting public places. I have decided that public parks are a waste of time. Every hunter and their sister hunt them. I found a bunch of beautiful little pins in multiple spots at a park. Very peaceful. Lo and behold, two tweakers roll up....get out of their car and speed off like a bat out of hell to a spot I was about to head towards. I knew they were hunting and decided to say whatsup to them. The dudes hand was shaking like he had parkinson’s and he was ripping pins out left and right. I told him that they were too young to pick. He said “I have been hunting for ten years bro....I got it. Those aren’t pins.”

Oh....those aren’t pins. Ok, so the veil hasn’t even broken and they aren’t pins?

Then I told them they were tearing up the mycelium and the dude said “All the white shit? That doesn’t even matter bro.”
After ten years...this piece of shit didn’t know the first thing about mushrooms....and didn’t care.

These two tweakers came through like a fucking tornado and ripped everything up. The mycelium was everywhere. I still am angry about it. I had to take some deep breaths because I almost jumped both of them on the spot. I know for a fact that they are going to take all of those cyans and sell them so they can buy more meth. To all the people that hunt just to sell I say this: If you are picking for profit, GROW THE FUCKING THINGS YOURSELF!

Later on in the day I met another hunter and we decided to team up and hunt together. He was a cool dude who loves to hunt too.

Sorry about the rant. Anyway, here are some pins that I found before the two rapists came and destroyed everything:

Huh I wonder if it's the same people who hit my spot. Went to check on it yesterday and they're wasn't a pin in sight, plus all the mycelium was completely torn up. I'm glad I picked when I did, they missed out on a bunch of mature Cyans.

Still it's such a bummer to find one of your spots completely destroyed by others. For those of you new to hunting please be weary of how you treat the patches you come across and try not to uproot everything you find.

You are lucky, I was a day or two late to my major patch. It would have been a huge haul, but I am pretty sure they got there first.

What is shitty is that I am constantly trying to take stem butts and spores and spread the love. All these people do is just destroy everything. They probably wouldn’t even have those spots if people like us didn’t exist. Tomorrow I think I might buy some rubbermaid tubs and fill them up with the leftover piles of wood chips at a local park. I am going to take them to a safe property and make my own patch. If anybody has experience with this and is in the 425 area let me know. I could use some help.....I want to make a mega patch.

10 years huh  if that's true he's probably wiped out half of the cyans that could have matured to beautiful fruits

Try not to get to down. Shit happens every year all over the world. Keep spreading the love. I take colonized chips to a couple popular areas just to keep the rif raf contained. It works if there's mushrooms at a certain place every year thats were the poachers will go. then you have the rest of your location to your self. I find my real hunting is done in the off season when I'm scouting. I never rely on a previous years spot. Sure its nice to have a glory hole but just don't count on it. The only guaranteed spot is your property behind a fence. But then again thats not hunting it's cultivating. Just my 2 cents-PICTURE FROM PREVIOUS YEAR FOR REFERENCE.)

FQ always spread your finds to your own chipbeds in unknown locations. Go to your local hardware store, buy alder chips from the bbq/grill section. Dump it somewhere and stick yer mushroom butt in it. You'll find yourself finding more then the tweakers do in the years to come.

Tragedy of the commons.  Public patches are doomed to be raped, repeatedly.  Just spread stembutts, colonized chips, maybe even do some guerrilla grow techniques and spread LCs or sprinkle colonized grains on promising looking mulch beds.  In the end, if you don't have some patches that only you know about, you're probably picking from a patch that somebody else started, one that other people have been picking longer than you, and the reason it gets raped is that somebody feels entitled to it and knows that if they don't rape it, the next moron will.

All my public patches get raped to shit every year, still seem to manage to come back.  I do what I can to tend them, help them spread a bit by transplanting mycelium and keep them healthy throughout the year as much as I can, minimize the damage that the fuckwits that tear them up every year do, and maybe take a few of the more hidden stragglers they missed if I check them too late or take a dose worth of pristine fruit if I find them when they've opened up a bit but not been devastated.  I don't sweat it because I have secret patches for my own supply.  I only check public patches because established patches seem to fruit a little earlier than my younger transplants.

And don't get paranoid and take huge piles of of mulch from an established patch, nothing says fuckwit more than taking shovelfuls of colonized mulch when all you needed was a handful or a single clean print to take care of all your cultivation needs.  Leave the bulk of it there for the public patch to continue to furnish the rapists with easy plunder, it will keep them away from the new patches you cultivate.    Put a few pieces of colonized wood on cardboard and go to clean chips from there, then plant that out in more private, quiet locations with good microclimates.  Pretty soon you'll have your own wonderland.  Public spaces with high traffic are a nightmare, the teens and tweakers rip them to shit and harvesting is always sketch with all the foot traffic you might run into.  Doesn't take much to start your own private paradise.

Currently, I'm keeping one public patch covered with a deep layer of leaves. So far, my subterfuge is working and no one else is picking from it. I wish I could get a photo to capture how healthy these fruits are. Unfortunately, no fruiting whatsoever has occurred at my tended beds, even though the mycelium appears quite healthy to me.
