Yea I found a TON of amanitas right outside my work (a corporate office haha). They were all nasty looking and falling apart after Thanksgiving break and a quick freeze. I did dry a cap out though way before they got that nasty. It's funny to see them with giant bites taken out of them.

There's still hope for cyanescens in western WA.
Here's some beat up fellars too.
   Man, I love that color.
There's no reason to call off the hunt just yet! Even with all the aborts, there's still some live fruit.

Dys said: I'd like to see three parks that had fresh alder this year or last. I'm too new at this to tell, and I saw some mulchers earlier this autumn, be nice to see what's up.
old alder will be off white grayish when dry and dingy white light smoky when wet. Fresh alder will be orange reddish. Pay attention to the color of the shavings and the bark in the picture. Dont confuse the reddish orange with cedar. needles, smell, bark and the softness of the wood will always give away cedar (Chipped/shredded form used often in landscaping).

Chips are very rarely one species and often a mixed bag of whatever work was done for the day.

Would you guys say it's too late for pellies? The best I can find on here and Wikipedia is that they go through early winter. Mushroom john says until December and sometimes January. Does anyone with experience hunting pellies want to weigh in?

I got some weird stuntzii looking mushrooms in Vancouver today. No sign of a veil tho? Heavy bruising on the frozen ones. Older ones are quite large! Purple spores wood chips the works I just don't know what they are.

I've seen Pellys live through frozen ground. They're not into snow though. My pelly spots show nothing still

Dys said: If anyone's travelling 101/103 this coming week. Watch your warnings.
When I hit the coast the other day day new GPS refused to let me go that way and on the way home, the flooding and widow makers and rocks explained it all. That 50 mile stretch is near worse than the trek across highway 30 through the mountains. There was a lot of watching other cars slowly going over water unsure of how deep it was. Going to be worse. Be safe, driving or hunting. Saw one fallen rock darn near the size of my car that looked like they dragged it across the road. Be nice if they moved it further off the road tho.
I was hunting a park earlier this season and found my way to an abandoned open field. A dead tree decided to just topple over. I had been near it a little earlier and still sounded like a gunshot 200 yards away. Just like to be sure you guys and gals stay safe.
Jezus! I'd like to hunt with you some day I think We're very much in the same neighborhood

Cyans are popping hard in the last spot I found in PDX during the frost. My guess is that they started coming late, because I didn't see any sign of them earlier in that spot, then now with the nonstop rain the flush just continued someway.

Alenii?
Whats up with the extra bright one in top left of the first pic? I assume you checked it for dark gills n such it just looks suspect to me.
The cap one mushroom over to the right side of it looks pretty bright too n the gills look light but its hard to tell in the photo.
Younger ones can have fairly lighter gills anyways though just though I would point those out.

I get the impression most people here have given up and aren't collecting whatever late-season stragglers there are. But I went out last night and sure enough, cyans are popping again in two of the five patches I checked! Northern Seattle area. Crossing my fingers the patch-rapists have given up for the year too...
