Who am I kidding, I'm already thinking the day after tomorrow. Just not the 3 hour drive but it's a honeypot man, and off the beaten path, so quiet you can hear the myc talking to each other. Hide the car behind (xyz) and no one knows you're there and wouldn't care if they did.
Oh btw.

From a little bit ago, but pretty nifty little guy/gal.

Ive only used left over water(Never Warm) on home projects. This was a local spot that had pins all season that never came to maturity. Very strange. It seems to be trying to come back.

Season definitely still going strong on the coast, these guys were so big I didn't believe my eyes, there were rotten fruit at least 5 inches across, so big I thought no way they were actives. This is maybe 1/8 of what was there, quick grab from a shady front yard on a busy street. Biggest allenii I've ever seen! I'll be back later for the rest of the mature ones.

So I wasn't expecting to find much after the frost. Two of my spots were pretty much dead, but one just exploded all over the place like crazy! I just have a question, some are dark blue/black around the edges, which I assume is from the frost and is starting to decay. But it's not all slimy and falling apart. I have eaten them partially decayed before with no problems and I'm sure it will be ok for me to consume. But I thought I'd get a second opinion and this is the place to go. Here's what they look like.

I'd cut the black off and just dry them. Chances are they were rotting at the edges then frosted. I bet that wheat color in those 4 is going to turn darker brown pretty fast.

I have no feedback tonight as far as patch activity. first my truck then me, as i was walking out(saw him pull in) Just got lit up by a cops spot light in a closed area. I remained calm, waved and just went and got in my truck. All i kept thinking was him asking: "Whats with the 2 flashlights Boy!". He just got the light out of my face and went about his way. Thought for sure he was just waiting for me to drive so he could pull me over. He turned left. I turned right. End of story.

scary! Its always best to remain calm. Im sure the "un nervous" wave was what got you out of the sitch.... glad to hear that your story ended well. Maybe the attitude and legality of these wonderful mushrooms will change for the better one day...or we can all move to florida......NAH!!!

All some great lookin end of season shroomies everyone! It was a fun season (my first here in pdx!) and I was able to find my first 3 patches of cyans this year! Mostly thanks to all the help from this thread and assistance with id's in the past. Looking forward to a great spring season and finding some ovoids for the first time. Am I the only one already itchin for the psilis to be in full fruit again come spring?

...any thoughts on going off the beaten path along the coast? I don't know if I should stick to my honeypot or walk 6 more miles in the rain.
I'm thinking some of those micro climates are thriving and avoided the frostburn...?

I'm gonna give it another shot. I only found one new patch this season but it was gorgeous. It was on the edge of my neighbor's property and the road though so I grabbed it quick. The substrate was Doug fir red bark by the way. There were clumps of mycelium and a few pieces of bark were colonized. I've never seen bark colonized and I believe it doesn't even contain any lignin. I've checked this area in the past 5 years and it's never had any chips. just the bark. The leaves weren't even colonized just the bark. I suppose I should play around with this strain quite a bit in the next few years. It's colonizing the shit out of cardboard now and is going into alder chips at the end of the month but I'll do at least one batch with bark only to see if it continues to accept it. Sure would be nice to spread a strain like that around. They're big meaty ones too.

Expand your horizons. Any chance you get. Honey holes and familiar turf is cool. New spots are better. IMO.
