I'm so glad I grabbed stem butts yesterday. I've got a nice colonized bit of dune grass in there with a good nine butts. Had to MacGyver something with gas exchange and as sterile procedures as I could. It's in a better place now so I hope it makes it.
I've should've picked every pin I saw since they were shocked to death. But I dunno, nature does weird stuff and locals said there were boats coming in late and their buddies never got to pick. I'd hope by Thanksgiving they're cleaning up. If we have an unusually warm winter, I want to go photograph some late season ones and I bet the beach will look amazing.
I slurried spots that I know are typically hotter based on the wheat colored azzies always growing there. They never stay caramel long there at all. It was my best shot, and I had poured spore water two days prior to repair damage done by two patch rapists.
That's all there was out there today and they rotted fast. I'm glad they were frozen and I could field ID. Some would be indistinguishable after ten minutes of being warmer.
I don't know what to do with these guys except pull some prints out and not mess up. Two pins with ice on them blued just moments later when they warmed slightly in my hand. So awesome to have that experience.
I've never been on a frozen beach in my life. It was a spiritual experience. Ground was solid as a rock. No fighting sand in rubber boots..
Maybe see if I can get some chips for this myc/grass/butts and fast, and get them out there. I've used warming bags before to bury lines of wire and dig in the dirt, I think I may just be able to get some to stick. Or throw a bucket on the porch and tend to it.
Obligatory pics.
The pins that stayed in the area in which its always warmer. I think they'll make it.

A beach frozen solid is a sight to behold.

I was blessed again today with another good walk through the dunes. Most of these came from a single patch a buddy almost stepped on growing out of the path.

Seems like lots more people are find azurescens this year then the past few. I would much rather pick magic (illegal) mushrooms at an isolated beach than a crowded city park.

I totally feel you there. I always felt sketch living in portland hunting the bike paths and parks, people can totally tell what your up to and everybody seems to know what cyans are and look like. Bout to have my first go at these azzies with some buddies tonight, my experiences with cubes and cyans have all been unique so this should be a treat.

I've carried a golf club in the dunes before and chased around golf balls while looking for patches. Makes the mushroom hunt even more fun and it looks like you're just working on your golf game.

How bout just being honest if ya get caught? Tell em your studying mushrooms, they don't need to know what kind. Most people are completely clueless, it's your
guilty conscience that gives you away.

Because it's the potential of dealing with a cop, plus the golf club becomes the best possible weapon when you have to "deal" with one of those assholes...

U guys are paranoid imo. Check out "the fane of the psilocybe mushroom association". Then look into psilocybin mushroom history. They are not illegal is my point. It's a religious practice so long as u treat it as one.
If u have the attitude that ur doing something "illegal", lol ,or wrong and u feel all sketchy doing it, then yeah people will look at u and question u and worry about what u r doing cause that feel ur sketchy Ness. If u r picking, minding ur own and truly feel like ur doing anything wrong or illegal then u won't have any worries my freinds. Trust me I do it all the time, in all sorts of locations with my basket and no desquise. Just be smart...
Yeah they no what I'm doing, when I'm picking and or spore bombing random locations. When someone walks up I usually basically keep picking and answer their minimal questions. I usually have in my basket, or have seen close by, a gourmet or medicinal I can talk about if someone tests me lol. But like he said, Don have a guilty concious and u won't seem guilty
Don go to the park, college, old ladies front yard, ect when everyone is awake. I get up early and pull smash n grabs I spotted earlier. Went in many back yards lol. No tresspassing, I was never asked to leave. Just re latch it and leave a smiley face made of leaves and it's allllllll good.

When I discovered the second picture, I was in the girls front yard.. she walks up and says, "can I help u..?".
I say, "no, I'm just picking these mushrooms.. do u mind?".
Girl says, after a moment of thought and after looking at the cyans, "well, I'm yeah.. why Don u just leave things how they are.."
I said, "OK sorry "as I walk off.
Girl says, "oh no ur fine.."
I had a strong feeling that I should go back and inspect the front yard more so and also the back yard. Despite the girl having asked me to leave. So u went around picked few more patches I found in other yards.
Then I went back to the girls yard who had asked me to leave and found two more nice flushes like the one in the first picture. And I almost didn't go back and look in the girls yard again. Soon glad I did, there was two sweet flushes of fatties waiting for me still
Don't let anything deter u from picking, there is always a way around it. Happy picking everyone
found the king boletus in the same location before it frosted in tacoma. Found expired ones after the frost so sad.
Btw, most parks that show up on maps, are not great. Many locations like that get raped. I'm sure there are some epic parks, don't get me wrong. I have parks that r great spots but magically no one hunts them lol. It's obvious. My best spots are ones I spot driving by, like apartments and churches and schools. They are left untouched a lot of the time. They are Def not crowded either. Good places to spore bomb also.
If u get ur self some non stick foil. Then print literally even cyan u get. Save those spores. Scrap them up and store them. Then use a heavy concentrate spore solution and spread ur spore solution in as many suitable locations as possible. I covered about an acre of habitat in spore solution this year. This will make everyone happier in years to come. Do it every year. Put like a teaspoon or two or three of spores into a gallon of water. Poke a pen sized hole in a GA llon jug. Walk around w the jug upside down until it's empty in a suitable location.
I'm not talking down on anyone's opinion either, this is just how I see things in relation to a prior post. Much love everyone.

Walking stick. I don't know how many times it saved me from slipping, and it's awesome to use as a lever and get that heavy wet grass up.
Good to hear about Astoria and Seaside. It has been a blast vacationing there and two other small towns. Wonderful people.
Nice little crab shack in Long Beach if you're ever passing through. Strip club in Astoria. A small hole in the wall bar there too.
There's a dispensary in Astoria that has amazing weed, too, and on the cheap. I left my medicine at home and my back was fucked so they stayed open until I got there. That's baller.
If anyone here is from those towns I hope you guys know even tourists appreciate that home town feeling. Rock on, one love.

Heard Depoe Bay is done now too after posting about Clatsop County OR and Pacific County WA. Don't know how accurate the source is or if it froze the other day or what. I'd imagine it's either picked clean or done for the year at this point.

So patch raping? Nice.
The best and most spiritual way to pick mushrooms is taking other people's stuff, so I hear.
Oh, so you did go back and steal this girls shit anyway.
Rated accordingly.

From what I understand from the old heads around the North coast here in Oregon cyans are just about to hit full swing. From my research I've always understood them to prefer warmer temps but I also know to trust the toothless old hippie with a giant bag of booms and a knowing grin. Opinions?
