Making tea won't save you from true rot though. You'll get an eye for it first and it'll feel different in your hand. The cap breaks or crumbles.. that stuff you wanna look out for.

Don't forget to read weather alerts.. don't want to find yourselves hitting rocks or sliding off the road if you're going through mountains. There's a lot of flooding so everyone just be safe. Wood falls off of logging trucks all over the place normally and will be worse. I had a chunk thankfully just glance off my windshield. Gave me a heart attack. Had to avoid a large piece in the road around a tight turn. Take care of yourselves on your way to go hiking..

Muahahahaha a nice surprise for me.  I've been working 6 days a week 10-12 hours a day not hunting.  This makes me happy to see some genetics I stole last season popping in my planter.  very neglected all summer maybe watered once.  There was prolly a sandwich Baggie worth of semi colonized woodchips that sat out all spring and summer.  I added some wood chips about a month ago.

I'll give a thumbs up to the first person who knows what they are.

Hey mr piggy!!! I know I haven't been very active in the thread this year (having trouble finding a reliable way to upload all my pictures without a computer to dump to), but I realized from your post a couple days ago that we're sharing the spot with the thick meaty pin clusters (and the needle by the corner lol). I went back today and saw more destruction but was happy to see that the really gorgeous parts had been sheltered by some of the nearby debris, which I'm assuming was you  since whoever else we're sharing with apparently hates nature :frown:

Gorgeous spot though, found the biggest cyans I've ever seen Saturday morning. If you see a short guy with tiny scissors lurking around come say hi

Sorry for clutter 'erbody

I had a good feeling, those look a lot like the few I have seen. I really like their smooth "round" look. Also how slippery they are, its crazy.

Just apply the same standards you would to any food.  That specimen looks just fine.

Looks like sporedrop on the cap to me, not rot.  Don't go by color, go by texture.  You said yourself when you wiped it off everything looked good.  No slime.  Beauty.  Gills intact, no goo.

Eat that motherfucker.

I think the storm blew a bunch of debris down on top of them.  I find piles of leaves and debris out of place as mushroom advertising   I was there Saturday morning as well, we must have just missed each other.

There are a lot of people working that patch.  My buddy ran into three in one visit, and they were all just taking matures.  Nice to see so many people able to share a patch.  That's the one I got a bunch of stem butts from that I'm making spawn with, soon to spread around N/NE Portland

Gravity rides everything...even spores. Found these down the hill from a popular spot that gets picked out quickly.

Found a couple of what I believe are cyans. Was a nice little patch of mostly pins in an urban park environment in Portland. These were the only two that seemed ready for picking. Usually would have left them because they seem small for mature cyans, but some stranger was already asking over my shoulder what fungi I had found, and I had to shoo him off with as little info as I could.. Got paranoid he'd ruin the patch, so I thought I'd at least take these ones.
