For those overworked teenagers and unlucky ones out there
    #2218778 - 01/04/04 06:27 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

A simple but, to-the-point,  flash animation peice  as to what place you have in the universe if you work at a minimum wage low paying job, like Mcdonalds, Denny's, places like that.
GO TO SCHOOL! And you can escape this! Or find some other way out. You really dont have to live this way if you try hard enough, Ive been there, and will never let myself be in that situation again. :mad2:

At $17 per hundred, so many are overpaid.

I will never work in a fast food place. I would rather wash dishes at a restaraunt.

It is impossible for someone to be overpaid.

Why would someone pay someone more than they were worth?

IMO 17% is a fair deal. Self employment is an option.

(cue theme from Sanford and Son)

Those things may change what paying the person is worth, wether it be the value of not going to jail or being penalized or the freedom from guilt that it provides.

That flash thing would have been worth watching if it offered a solution. Instead it just says that capitalism is evil, which I don't agree with. It can be unfair and scandalous when there are too few restrictions on capitalist practices, but come on. Do you have a better idea? And don't say Communism. And I think 17% is more than fair. Look at the people in China who make 10 or 20 cents per hour and work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Now that's not fair.

Don't be silly. Everybody knows what the alternative is:

Magic!

If everybody just used magic instead of capitalism, then the world would be perfect in every way.

i suggest capitocialism. with such a gap between the rich and poor youd think there could be some sort of commonground. im sure that somehow people could be both economically free and guaranteed basic necessities (food, shelter, clothes, etc). i dont think itd be the actual system that would cause problems, just the transition.

 You have brought up an excellent point.  If anarchy cannot work, all political 'solutions' will be doomed to a degree of failure.  There will always be unintended negative consequences and there will always be those who will actively seek and wield political power created by these 'solutions' for there own ends.  This is because of the current nature of man.

I believe that we must seek to change the hearts of ourselves and our fellow man to the end that anarchy will be possible and at this point political institutions will be seen by all for what they really are... mechanisms of coercion, opportunities for corruption and impediments to a truly peaceful society.

No job can define "my place in the universe",.... a job is a job is a job,....money is a nescessary evil in most situations, but has nothing to do with happiness or success in life.

...and NO, i don't work at mc donalds... :smirk:

That is not going to happen. No matter how hard you try.

Not true. We all have the power to change ourselves....start with that.

Not true. We all have the power to change ourselves....start with
that.

What I meant was that it is impossible to mold every person on
this planet into one way of thinking. With so many individuals
and ideas floating about, people will always have divergent views.

We do have the power to change ourselves, but not all of us want
to change. Even if everybody were willing to change, we
would never agree on what to change into.

Good points, which is why we must be tolerant toward other ideas and views, even thougyh they go agianst your own...
Unfortunately, i believe, like you, that there will always be ppl who view thier way as right, and enforce it onto others, but we are derailing this thread....
