Bulk substrate surgery, possible?
    #2218772 - 01/04/04 06:23 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

I made a casing about a week and a half ago, about 25% poo, 75 straw. I added way too little spawn for the ammount of substrate. Id say its almost 50 percent colonized, but contams could be popping up soon. What I want to know is, is it possible to tear it apart and pick out all the uncolonized substrate and pack all the mycellium down, then case with coir/verm? This could introduce contams, but Id mist with h202/water.

Could I case now and just say fuck it? I mean, does it have to be 100% colonized to case?

to case it, it will need to be almost or fully colonized but you could go back and pick through what hasn't colonized but your chances for a failure are way higher. if you think about it, it would be like casing an un-colonized jar, just throw away what isn't colonized.

How would my chances for failure be higher? If I picked out all the uncolonized and just left the white chunks of mycellium, wouldnt there be no chance for it to contaminate?
