white film on caps ??
    #2218682 - 01/04/04 05:16 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

My friend has done some searching but can't find anything related. Perhaps someone has had the same situation before and can offer some help. This is her first grow.

Her brf cakes are in the pinning/fruiting stage. Chamber has 95%RH and temps 75-80F. Fanning 4 times a day. Perlite on bottom. Drip shield in place.

The shrooms that have fruited have a thin, white film covering the caps, which are golden brown underneath. It's not fuzzy or cobwebby, just a film. She doesn't see moisture beads anywhere on the lids or verm.
All of the caps in the chamber have this film. She took her fingernail to one to make sure that it wasn't thick or slimy - just a film.

Also, one cake has a knob-like growth off of the side. It doesn't look like a cap, white with no discoloration. It's the size of a chick pea. Is this normal?
They were birthed 5 days ago.

Has anyone else experience this and/or have some advice?
Many thanks.

thanks!
Oddly enough, when she went to fan in the morning, the knot had popped off and was on the other side of the chamber.
She had to harvest 2, the largest ones at 1 1/2", because the veils had already torn. She says all of the cakes have bumps and fuzz, but are very slow to pin and fruit. It's been a week since birthing.
