Habitat: Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc. found in wet leaves/debris along small stream between valley. wet habitat Gills: Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc. widley spaced. brownish cinamon color kinda greyish Stem: Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc. 2 1/2" hollow yellowish tan. bruises purplish blue quickley Cap: Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc. 1 1/2 - 2" dark brown that gets darker toward edges. one cap was flatter slightly wavey. Spore print color: Very important!
Bruising: Color that the mushroom bruises, if any. purple/blue Other information: Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

While looking for actives blue bruising is a good indicator, though some actives don't really bruise, and some non-actives are blue for other reasons http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22183234
When you find a psilocybe, the blue bruising is bright, you don't think "maybe it's blue", it's a bright beautiful blue.


It's best to learn what actives are native to your region, learn their characteristics and distinguishing features, learn what season they grown and what they grow on, than look in the most logical place for the species to be, also learn how to do a sporeprint, panaleous cinctulus and Panaeolina foenisecii are near identical and a spore print will determine which you have, so this is an important identification skill....most psilocybe species have dark purple or brown spore prints...
