Pan Cinct?

Found on my brother in law's lawn....he is obsessed with making sure his yard is beautiful....borderline OCD. Sure enough I found a couple of these. I picked a few and took some pictures. I thought they were Pan Foes and threw them away so I have no prints or other info. But I did some research and I am thinking they could be Cinctulus....? Please......?

If these aren't Cincts I swear I will just give up them altogether. The main reason I think these are Cincts are because of the white mottling on the reddish stipe. Also the three notches between each gill. And of course the band on the cap. I can't print them because I threw them away. Annnd I don't feel like driving 20 minutes to go get them :/ but tomorrow if I am out there I will be sure to grab them and print them. Hopefully somebody can give me a firm ID with the little information I have given.

Fuck...I have no idea what I am talking about. I hate trying to differentiate between Cincts/Subbs and Foes. That is why I have never even bothered looking for them. They look exactly the fucking same to me and it pisses me off haha.
But the way I have always found things with hunting is that once you actually find the mushroom you are looking for....you will almost always know it when you see it from then on. So I just need to find some Cincts one day.

They could be Cints but to me the stems look foe like to me The only way I can tell if I print them and compare to a sharpie
I found Cints to have much sturdier stems then foes

Those stipes are screaming foe's to me and the gills look awfully brown.
As others have told you, when you find one you'll know it. The cinct will feel very sturdy and the stipe will likely be much firmer.
I've searched plenty of well maintained lawns. I've only found 3 cincts and they were all where the owner had patched his lawn. Besides that I've only found them in freshly laid sod (1-2 years old) and horse pastures.

You can tell that is not a cint from the underside of the gills. Too light brown.

Is there a way to tell if sod has been freshly laid? Also if anybody knows.....let's say brand new mulch has been laid on old mulch that had cyan or stuntzii growth. Will you find those mushrooms on the new mulch. Will the mushrooms just grow through. So I guess my real question is if I know that mulch has been freshly laid, is it even worth the time to look at? In my experience it seems that wood lovers like that old greying mulch. I think someone said at least a year old.

I just checked areas where they did construction last summer. Most still had just foes, but I was able to find my first cincts using this method.

I wasn't so much looking for sod as I was looking in areas where I knew construction was completed the previous spring/summer/fall. Find these areas and you find sod that was laid in the past year.
